White House political maestro Karl Rove urged money and other forms of support for Republican congressional candidate Michele Bachmann at a Stillwater fundraiser Friday. The Bachmann fundraiser at the Water Street Inn in Stillwater attracted about 60 supporters, who paid $250 for lunch. Couples who contributed $1,000 to Bachmann could have their pictures taken with Rove. The Bachmann campaign did not immediately release the total amount raised.

"Truly this could provide an opportunity for Congress to start discussing the nations priorities
call me naive, but AK could/should lead in this discussion on public dollars paying for intrastucture improvements across the nation. Why CANT we offer to return the B2N earmark bc the state cant afford the project, and the feds wont be paying for it the grandious $350m bridge NOT going to happen on our watch."
I have come to the conclusion that once you get past the fiery rhetoric there just isn't much there, there.
Like you, I have been a Bachmann supporter from when I first became aware of her. But, the data I'm now seeing about her political career and her political alliances is disturbing.
Unlike many, I always thought that her presidential ambitions were premature, and ill-advised. I liked her very much for what she was bringing to the Tea Party movement, but Bachmann for president? I could never quite wrap my head around that. It's always seemed like a terrible over-reach on her part, to me.
I was willing to simply allow her the leeway to pursue what I thought was a fool's errand in the presidential race. I had no illusions that she'd actually win, but perhaps she'd gain some valuable big league experience for another time.
Now, with Rollins out there bashing Palin, and the revelations about her early connections (and political debt) to Rove, I'm feeling quite a bit different about her.
I don't like a back-stabber, and I'm afraid she's now earned the title. I wasn't going to support her in her presidential bid anyway, but her betrayal of Sarah is a long-term deal-breaker for me. It's a serious black mark against her character.
Sure, but how many would sell their soul and agree to be his political pawn? It looks for all the world to me, that Bachmann has done just that.
So, why did Rove proceed to do just that, AFTER she won the nomination?
Calm down, friend. If you don't see how the information in this article is of relevance to the current political battle, then just say so. Some of us see the threads of undue political influence in it, all too well.
This lady has made a couple of mistakes, but good grief folks...these people are human beings!
Sarah Palin was Michele Bachmann's most prominent supporter in her last bid for re-election, and Michele turned around and thanked her by doing (and saying) nothing about her campaign manager bashing Sarah to the press.
That's called betrayal, and it is a very important indicator of a person's character (or lack thereof). In fact, because this incident was widely publicized, Bachmann's treason against a staunch ally is even more egregious.
So, did Sarah fire on Bachmann, or did Bachmann fire on Palin? As far as I know, Palin hasn't returned fire yet, which speaks volumes about her character.
Bachmann took herself out of the "circle" when she failed to respond to Rollins' attacks on Palin. We're not firing at the rest of the field - only the betrayer.
Yeah, you should go on. We want to know what CURRENT presidential candidates have met the bar that you're setting for Sarah Palin.
Newt? Gimme a break. That egghead has done nothing BUT write books, since he left Congress.
Try again!
Quit selling the enemy line here. Most Freepers know what really happened in that interview, and I'll bet you do too.
You're squirming. Stop avoiding the question, and reveal the authors!
Has any candidate espoused dismantling Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare, HUD, unemployment payments, National Labor Relations Board, bailouts of any form, and et ali?
WHICH candidate is actually running on such platform?
IF your candidate is NOT espousing such, then YOUR candidature is NOT conservative in the true and real sense and all your pontification is nothing but pontificated hand-wringing.
Not if she were actually ready to be President I don't.
What - are you 17 or something? Address the charge like an adult. You're applying a standard to Governor Palin that you're NOT applying to any other candidate.
Either be consistent, or be labeled an unthinking PDSer.
Rita....one word: Strategy.
Strategy.
Keep on chasin’ them rainbows, bucko. LOL
“In politics, there are no accidents or coincidences.” FDR
Not even Ronaldus Magnus came close to meeting your bar. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
He was sticking his nose into Bill Simon in 2003 and using his substantial leverage to try and steer the campaign into RINO territory.
2002
You need to stop posting while drunk. Good night.
Agreed. Especially if they have to go back 5 years and try to make a non-issue and issue.
I hear what you are saying, good points!
