Tea Party group targets Orrin Hatch for defeat

Conservative PAC FreedomWorks, a prominent Tea Party group chaired by former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, is targeting Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch in the 2012 Senate race.

The group, arguing Hatch has insufficiently conservative economic views, is launching the so-called "Retire Orrin Hatch" campaign at Utah's Republican Convention on Saturday.

"It's clear that Senator Hatch is trying to capitalize on the popularity of the Tea Party movement by reinventing himself as a fiscal conservative," said Russ Walker, Vice President of Political and Grassroots Campaigns for FreedomWorks PAC, in a statement. "But his recent rhetoric and actions in favor of limited government simply do not erase decades of bad votes, costing taxpayers trillions of dollars. Indeed Hatch's body of work proves he cannot be trusted to consistently adhere to a fiscally conservative agenda, and possible primary challengers like Representative Jason Chaffetz (R-3, UT)give conservatives in Utah and around the country a great opportunity to trade up."

This is a foolish gutless stunt. The people who have co-opted the Tea party brand for their own gain, id est DICK ARMEY, are wanting to collect a scalp. They want to make an easy kill with one of, if not the most conservative people in the Senate, because Utah is the only place in the country where anyone purported to be more conservative than Hatch could possibly be elected. If you come from a State with more conservative US Senators than Orrin Hatch, please respond with their name.

There’s two choices - Audible violence or physical violence. Right now, we’re still in the audible stage. Buy ammo for the next stage.

What a cheap punk thing to say. Obviously you are a coward and not a warrior or you wouldn't threaten, you would act. Make your yourself known in Utah and repeat this bile.

There people who feel the same way about McCain as you do about Hatch. I believe that both of them are ready for the rest home. They both have accepted the full beliefs of bringing in the New World Order and for that reason I no longer respect either one.

Read post #29 for further conviction that he’s done for.

I heard Hatch speaking on the radio about a month ago and he was more animated and strident against Obama than I’ve really every heard him. Afterward, Hedgecock or whoever it was that was interviewing him did make that point and also that Hatch was being challenged by a Tea Party candidate. It made sense. Hatch can’t be counted on after the election to maintain that conservative tone.

McCain shows them how it's done. Every 6 years, pretend to be a conservative for a few months.

Then, it's back to whacko liberal again.

Very cute. The problem with the Senate is it's loaded with RINOs like Graham, McCain, Snoew, Collins, Lugar, Hatch, et. al. They have to go because they are part of the problem along with the Donkeys. That's the easy part (RINO identification); getting them out is the hard part.

Not dreaming. Mark Levin supports Hatch.

“Mark Levin is an Establishment mouthpiece, IMO.”

On that, I totally disagree. Anyone who regularly listens to his program would do so, as well.

I received an email from Hatch’s campaign just today saying that Levin endorsed Hatch.

While I didn’t hear the interview, I find it hard to believe that Mark endorsed him.

I hope that Levin will clear that up very soon. I don’t think it will be pretty when he does.

Hatch is just one of many RINOs that need to go off into the sunset.

McCain and Hatch aren’t the only ones. They’re not going to get away with it anymore. People are looking at their voting records rather than just listening to their political speeches just before the election.

I’ve been talking about RINOs who campaign right and govern/legislate left since I signed on here. It’s gratifying to see that more people are noticing too.

Aside a few sites such as this, on both sides, most voters do indeed tune in a few days before the election, and actually believe what the candidate spreads, and what the networks push.

That is why we are where we are.
