Oh yeah. Me likee.
MCG EXIT SPEECH WITH DAZED WIFE AT HIS SIDE ....'McQueery' set my Gaydar off the 1st time I saw him on TV. I knew he was as queer as a 12" stack of $3 Dollar Bills. And that 'my truth' baloney made my BP hit 200. There is no 'my truth', there's only 'THE truth'.
~~~ snip ~~~~ "And so my truth is that I am a gay American...."
And this Pervert WEINER is another one. He may have been sending women pictures of his 'naughty bits'. But dollars to donuts he hangs at Gay Bars when Mrs. 'HUM-A WEINER' (LOL) is out of town.
In any case it hasn't been a good week or so for the Progressive Moonbats over at DU. First the WEINER scandal hits the news. Then their other 'Progressive Hero', Dennis 'the menace' Kucinich SUES Obama for his little Illegal War in Libya. And now WEINER finally bites the bullet and resigns from Congress.
So now the only loud mouthed, mentally ill, progressive KOOK, left in the House that they can count on when reality gets too much for them is Debbie Watered-down Schlitz.
I guess there is plus side to living in a Pizza Box Fort in mommy's basement after all.
To each his own.
As if it isn't depressing enough to know that the body politic has been reduced to fools emailing their body parts, we must also be subjected to the Howard Stern gang screaming obscenities in a public forum. I can't imagine any circumstance in which I would applaud, and this vile little episode is no exception.
Well, I've been alone before and no doubt will be alone again. Carry on.
So what’s the story? Has he actually resigned or said he’s taking a leave of absence for a while?
“my truth is that I am a gay American”
To many “depends on what the definition of ‘is’ is” sums up the sorry condition of our culture and civilization. But I’ve often thought of the above piece of idiocy in dark times. Think about the phrase “my truth.” He’s not implying that it’s only the truth to him, which would be one thing. He means to convey that it is the objective truth, I gather, so we aren’t dealing with Clintonian relativism. “My” is interchangable with “the” in this case. So why say it? For the same reason we still say “sunrise” and “sunset” even though the terms no longer fit our cosmological systems. Though in this case it’s a new rather than old system of thought employed unconsciously.
Partly it’s rhetorical. He wants us to know that his homosexuality is a truth deeply important to him, as an individual. He wants, presumably, to convey the personal nature of the journey it took to discover this truth. He quite possibly also wanted to offer a justification for why he could have involved his wife in a ruse this whole time: first, because marriage was about the outside world, the world of convention and expectations, and not about his deep inner personal world where his truth lives; second, because finding his truth, as opposed to everyone else’s truth, required introspection and therefore time; third, because introspection is so personal, unconventional, and time-consuming, it is also courageous.
This is all rank speculation, of course. And I by no means wish to imply any of it was conscious. I merely mean to convey that what is most important is not what the truth is but that the truth is about almighty HIM. I’ve never been much for labels like “culture of narcissism,” but this sort of thing screams it out.
Then there’s the little addendum of “American,” as if had he simply said “my truth is that I am gay” we would have been left wondering whether he was German. Tell us if you haven’t been what we’ve assumed you top be all along, otherwise it’s redundant information. I’m half surprised he doesn’t hold a press conference every few years or so to remind us that he’s still American.
I know, I know, this particular convention is a legacy of the PC speech police. I’m not sure, but I think it all started with “African-American,” which, though stupid, made at least some sense. You couldn’t just call them Africans, after all. Anyway, it’s become painfully conventional to see the word “American” paired with other words, thereby through the magical process of identity politics turning scattered individuals into interest groups and voting blocks. It works for racial groups, obviously, but also age groups (Older Americans), economic classes (Working Americans), and finally “lifestyle” groups (Gay Americans). Whereas once McGreevey was McGreevey, now he is not only gay McGreevey but Gay American #1-5-123845712-35897-13045012395.7, ready to lobby the government for special status, should he so desire (or so be coerced by his fellow group members to do so).
There you have it, the two evils of modern life: radical individualism and egalitarianism/collectivism rolled up into one little statement. That is the story of my hatred for “my truth is that I am a gay American.”
>>Oh the life of a social climbing vulture is never easy.
What are you talking about? This is Hillary’s way of getting her Weiner’s seat in congress.
“To each his own.”
Fine then. I’d like to clarify, though, that I’m not advocating hecklers show up at the State of the Union. In fact, I didn’t like the infamous “You lie!” But this is not that. Weiner deserves public shame, and continued public shame if he’s going to continue to try to steer the mass media ship.
“As if it isn’t depressing enough to know that the body politic has been reduced to fools emailing their body parts, we must also be subjected to the Howard Stern gang screaming obscenities in a public forum.”
I can be a declinist about a lot of things, but I’m not sure Howard Stern in this respect represents a fitting contrast to the Golden Age of political speechifying. The Founding generation was infinitely more cultured than us, and the unwashed masses were definitely a more attentive audience, undistracted as they were by our endless media barrage. But it wasn’t all Robert’s Rules of Order and tea and crumpets; they were horrible to eachother back then, and horribly uncouth. No doubt the equivalent of Stern’s lackeys showed up to give Abe Lincoln and Stephen Douglas a hard time.
Want to try again?
(Hint: "Let he is who is without sin cast the first stone," is not a metaphor.)
Yeah.
Well, I can handily see your point, bb. And it’s about time he examined his head and decided to pull out. If not him, I would hope his constituents would have given him the shaft.
Dead silence would have added a degree of seriousness and (near) solemnity to a sordid story that has been a complete farce. This hatchet-faced @sshole should have resigned without a public appearance -- within 30 seconds of when the first photo got out into the public domain.
Oh well, in that case . . .
He runs to the microphone and cameras even to be forced out. Weiner has no shame and probably thinks he is a victim.
Oh Lord...forgot about that horrid shit LMAO.
“I guess I’m all alone here but I could have done without the heckling. I never was a fan of piling on.”
He got off easy. IMO he should have been tarred and feathered and run through the streets. Had he been or others before him in scandals HIRED by the American people to do a JOB for US there might be a lot less of this crap going on.
Are they still offering the 16-oz T-bone for $4.95?
