Debbie Wasserman Schultz: We own the economy
By: Molly Ball June 15, 2011 11:35 AM EDT
Democrats are ready to take responsibility for the state of the economy and they deserve credit for putting it on the right track, the partys chairwoman, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, said on Wednesday.
We own the economy. We own the beginning of the turnaround and we want to make sure that we continue that pace of recovery, not go back to the policies of the past under the Bush administration that put us in the ditch in the first place, Wasserman Schultz told Mike Allen at a breakfast hosted by POLITICOs Playbook.
The economy, she said, has turned around since President Obama took office, with steady job growth evident even if the pace leaves something to be desired.
Republicans have ridiculed Democrats claims of economic success in the wake of disappointing jobs numbers and an uptick in the unemployment rate.
Wasserman Schultz said Democrats arent in need of a new story to tell about the economy because theyve put the right policies in place. I dont think its about what we say, its about what we do.
She said Democrats actions demonstrate their commitment to the middle class while Republicans do not. Though she commended several individual Republicans by name including her home state colleague, Rep. Daniel Webster Wasserman Schultz said the partys leadership in the house is beholden to an extreme faction.

Did you really mean to say, "Who would want this idiot as THEY ARE spokesperson?" or did you mean "THEIR" spokesperson?
The only turn-around the economy’s done is a nose dive into the sh1tter. Thanks to these socialist goons.

MTP's DAVID GREGORY TO REP W-SCHULTZ: .....let's talk about the economy in some more detail. This is the president's standing in terms of handling the economy in the publics eye, and it's pretty negative right now. Sixty percent almost disapprove of the president's handling of the economy. And there are facts that back that up that are difficult for this administration and for the Democrats: unemployment's up 25 percent since Inauguration Day for President Obama; the debt's up 35 percent, over $14 trillion; a gallon of gas up over 100 percent, with gas $3.75, higher than that in certain parts of the country. Why should Americans trust Democratic governance right now on the economy, and particularly the president's?
REP. SCHULTZ: Because we were able to, under President Obamas leadership, turn this economy around. When President Obama took office........
MR. GREGORY: Whoa, whoa, let me just stop you there. Clearly, the economy has not been turned around. I mean, you just saw those numbers (Gregory showed a chart showing unemployment, gas prices and the national debt both the day Obama took office and today). Gregory cut her off with Clearly the economy's not been turned around, Americans don't believe that

The DNC's 2012 campaign will center on Obama's proven financial genius.

You’re absolutely right Debbie - you democrats own the economy, starting with your $830 stimulus and Obamacare. Get those shovels ready for Recovery Summer Part II.
LOL! that’s funny...
Honest to God if we couldn’t laugh I think I would sit down and give up.
You sure do sweety. All 10% plus of unemployment and stagflation all of it.
They aren't side-effects, they're the point: nothing less than the unholy grail of evil - the final erasure of conscience combined with a weeping desperation to obey.
