The lousy economy has helped push Democrats to the negotiating table in a bid to cut a deal to increase the federal government’s $14.3 trillion borrowing limit, but the blue team is still hoping to gain some leverage from the nation’s economic woes.

In order to keep their party’s rank and file on board, Democratic negotiators, led by Vice President Joe Biden, need to offer some kind of a tax increase as part of a package of cuts being negotiated with Republicans.

They economy is down, we're all struggling, and what do the Democrats want to do INCREASE TAXES. Sure that makes sense. Transfer more from those who actually earn it to the government so government employees and other welfare recipients get more money.

They are attempting a multi-prong attack.

Steny Hoyer says "The debt ceiling must go up. Spending cuts or not, we need to raise the ceiling."
Biden says "Taxes must go up. Doesn't matter what we do about the debt ceiling, taxes must be raised."

If we are not careful, the debt ceiling, the taxes, and the spending will all go up.

This has been their plan all along...hike up spending to astronomical levels, then raise taxes to pay for it. Essentially, reverse the Reagan and George W. Bush administrations as if they never happened. Return the US to the glory days of the 1970’s.

In 1986, 1991 and in 1993, Biden and company made this same promise.

“You give us more tax money, we will cut spending, and the deficit will go down”

In each of those cases, the US Taxpayers gave the Congress more taxes and they turned right around and exponentially increased spending.

This is the same old lie recycled for the 4th time.

I strongly support elimination of tax welfare enabling almost 50 percent of tax filers to evade paying federal income taxes. Worse, a large part of this group receives tax welfare receiving a check from the IRS instead of paying federal income taxes at the 10 percent rate.

It usually a good idea to actually take the time to read the article before posting. Biden is a Vice President of the USA and a Democrat, the GOP has NOTHING at all to do with this story.

Don’t think so Joe. Tax hikes are the same thing as suicide for Republicans. Ask HW Bush. Boehner can’t be that stupid.
