I wonder if Vietnam would like to open negotiations for the US Navy to use either Da Nang or Haiphong as a port o’call in the near future.

Big surprise. We’re already the laughingstock of the world, thanks to the Obozo’s selling us out to every thug dictatorship and alienating all of our allies.

All of these while we want to cut back on our Navy. We need a strong Navy to counteract these type of problems. Having our fleet there and in force will help to bring these people to the negotiating table. Else, China will start gobbling up all these little islands from their neighbors. They are starting to act like the Empire of Japan circa 1930’s...

'Finally on December 27, President Corazon Aquino, who had previously fought to delay the U.S. pullout to cushion the country's battered economy, issued a formal notice for the U.S. to leave by the end of 1992."

The people of the Philippines kicked US forces out of the Philippines 20 years ago. Let them deal with China.

Honestly, if China sent its navy and some offshore oil rigs into the South China Sea, what could we do to stop them? I don’t see it as something worth shedding American blood over.

Besides, the Vietnamese are clever enough to figure out ways to give China a hard time if China encroaches on their territory too much. Unexplained accidents can happen on oil rigs.

The United States doesn’t have to stick its nose into everything.

Which dipstick Democrat Senator is in on this? Webb. That explains it. Old 600 ship Navy Webb. When the big bully is beating up the little bully, stay out of the fight.

That’s the East Sea. China is pretty much claiming it up to the shorelines of the Phillipines and Viet Nam and all the islands in it. If the US NAvy can’t or won’t prevent this then Freedom of the Seas becomes a quaint concept of the past.
