EDITORIAL: One law for us, another for you
Californias legislative hypocrisy a failure of democracy
The California state Senate voted 28-8 Wednesday to exempt itself from the pointless gun-control laws that apply to the rest of the populace. Legislators apparently think they alone are worthy to pack heat on the streets for personal protection, and the masses ought to wait until the police arrive.
This is just one of many bills Golden State politicians used this legislative session to set themselves apart from the little people, the ones who pay their inflated salaries. Annual compensation for legislators averages about $140,000, not counting luxurious perks such as taxpayer-funded cars and free gasoline. By comparison, the average Californian earns $50,000 a year, and the unemployment rate is 11.9 percent - far above the national average. Exact salaries for state assemblymen and senators are obscured by the use of a per diem payment scheme that shelters a significant chunk of income from taxation.

They also get to keep their deluxe healthplan. Yes, it looks like the return of the imperialist class system. The only people who had money in the USSR were the politicans and their close lackies.
This is actually pretty funny, because if you think about it, if guns are illegal, who will have guns? Legislators and criminals. And while legislators think they are protected because they have guns, that they are in *control* because they have guns, they should think again.
If a criminal wants a gun, all he has to do is find a legislator, and take his gun away from him. Does the legislator think that any citizen will intervene to protect him if some criminal is beating him after taking his gun away? Heck no. That criminal is in *control*, because he has a gun.
Left coast politicians lack all shame regarding their self-enrichment at public expense. Even though their outrageous conduct has sunk a once-prosperous state $10 billion in debt, the public seems not to care. In November, voters recycled Jerry Brown as governor even though Gov. Moonbeams disastrous tenure during the 1970s enabled the compensation packages for a unionized public sector that are busting the budget today. When California finally goes bankrupt, voters need only look in the mirror when wondering who deserves the blame.Lots of reasons in this editorial to explain why I'm glad I don't live in the Kingdom of California.
All animals are equal, but some are more equal then others.

California is devolving into a caste society.
Great point yefragetuwrabrumuy.
Here’s another good one, the first comment after the article, by TexRancher:-
“Nothing new here: I would venture a guess that the percentage of criminals in California’s legislature is greater than that of the state’s general population. Having said that, it would follow that the legislature is exempting criminals (who don’t obey the law anyway) from the restrictions of the gun control law. That’s a misnomer anyway as laws don’t control OBJECTS, just people so these laws should be called people control laws!
On the national scene, the laws that Obama is working on “under the radar” are NOT GUN CONTROL LAWS BUT PEOPLE CONTROL LAWS! So much for his respect for the 2nd Amendment!”
In Great Britain it was the Upper class, upper middle class, middle class, and lower class...maybe still around in degrees.
Go query on Google News and see how many California news organizations are reporting this story about the gun control exemption.
Legal AND illegal.
I didn’t find any...
If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns. And legislators. But I repeat myself.
A large part of the budget problems in many states is that all over the US public servants believe we work for them instead of the other way around.
Just call me an undocumented legislator.
“If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns. And legislators. But I repeat myself.”
“Just call me an undocumented legislator.”
Funny lines. lol
California gets the government it deserves.
It’s California.
I’m sure a majority of the voters there are happy.
Federal law prohibits private companies from pestering the public with unwanted telemarketing calls from businesses, but Congress exempted political organizations - i.e., themselves - from its provisions.
That had to be in there. The law would have been struck down by SCOTUS if "political speech" were not exempted. It's the charities that call and call and call that pi$$ me off.
