[TX Gov] Perry renews request for fire aid (6th request since December)
KXAN - Austin, TX ^ | June 11, 2011 | John Bumgardner

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Governor Rick Perry renewed his disaster proclamation Saturday for a sixth time since it was originally issued in December of 2010.

Perry’s office issued a release Saturday saying the renewal was due to ongoing threat from wildfires across the state.

The proclamation covers 254 counties in Texas and allows for necessary resources to help fight the fires and aid in response efforts.

“I am thankful for the ongoing sacrifice from first responders as they continue fighting the wildfires that are ravaging Texas homes and property,” Gov. Perry said. “I urge the federal government to quickly grant Texas the assistance we have requested – and that Texans deserve – to fight these fires. In the meantime, Texas will continue providing all resources possible to respond to one of the worst wildfire seasons in our state’s history.”

In an April 15th letter sent to President Barack Obama , seeking federal aid, Texas was denied federal aid.

Local and state firefighters have responded to more than 11,600 fires that have destroyed more than 460 homes and burned more than 2.8 million acres, an area the size of Rhode Island and Delaware combined.

Meanwhile back on the golf course....

"....A POLITICO analysis of 64 of the 71 rounds Obama has played since taking office shows that his golf circle has actually gotten much tighter over the past 2 1/2 years, narrowing from a group of about two dozen pals, administration officials and Cabinet members to a dozen or so trusted partners.

On most weekends this spring, Obama had the same three golf buddies: White House trip director Marvin Nicholson; former campaign photographer David Katz, whose 1.8 handicap made him No. 9 on Golf Digest’s recent ranking of Washington power brokers and press aide Ben Finkenbinder, who played golf at Minnesota’s Macalester College and ranks No. 32....... No red state is going to get any aid from the Regime if Obama can help it.

He should use, “Vote for me or I’ll let your state bleed” as a campaign slogan.

On what grounds did Obama deny Texas Federal aid? - The rest of the states better stand up for Texas and squawk. The very idea that a President can use the Federal Government to punish the states is outrageous if that’s what he’s doing; but he has got away with too much already. If we complain, we’re just RACIST, don’tcha know?

Yet, FReepers are complaining that so many Texas towns have banned fireworks on the 4th and are considering banning outdoor grilling on the 4th. No rain in months and most of Texas relies on volunteer firefighters - buy a clue.

I think Rush’s Operation Chaos had a lot to do with that map!

Thanks. I love that graphic.

Erkel Mugabe is a punk piece of socialist trash hellbent on raising the pain and misery index of all Americans. Even the dipshits that voted for him. Just went on a fire warning again here in the Panhandle of Texas. Been fire watch. Not sure of the difference yet almost an every day occurrence these last few months.

Oh well....pray for rain !

And AZ and NM are burning -- power stations in NM and west Texas are threatened.

God bless, Squantos. I'm praying. We got a pop-up around noon today that dropped .25 inch (south of Houston). We haven't had any rain in months it was so welcome. It's nothing, or a small hit and miss down this way. Everything is drying up.

If Obama doesn't want to be president in Texas, that is just fine with me. We should quit letting him visit the state when he needs campaign money.

“No red state is going to get any aid from the Regime if Obama can help it.”

Yeah, for sure; especially Texas. The Obama’kins have no love lost for Texians in general and Gov Perry in particular. Per the news, the fire is about to cross over into New Mexico. Will be interesting to see if Gov Richardson (Dem) applies for disaster aid (he will) and if he receives it (he will). Also, tangentially, being that the Obama Enviro Terrorists could not punch their socialist Cap & Trade bill through congress, they are now attempting an end run by executive fiat. As an example, the EPA Nazis are attempting to have the Permian Basin in west Texas (about the size of Minnesota) put off limits to drilling by declaring the PB Sand Lizard an endangered species. They're attempting to do the same thing with the Trans Pecos area by having the Pecos River snail declared an endangered species. Also, the Enviro Nazis will never stop, they're attempting to shut down drilling in the gulf by declaring a little sea horse as an endangered species. The EPA has been busy little beavers for sure, especially in Texas. But, they're also after coal too. The only way to stop them for the next two years (when we get a GOP POTUS) is by legislation. House Rep's and Senators of oil and coal producing states need to create a coalition and stop the EPA/administration by legislation. But, sadly, not hearing of any such attempt in the news. Guess “we the people” are screwed on this one...

I think we Texans all know by now that, in the event of a natural disaster or even a man-made one, Texas and other non-Obama voting/supporting states will be completely on their own.

Supposedly, that federal help is what states should be able to expect from the federal government. Guess not. Too bad our federal taxes are still going to fund Obama’s destruction of America. They could be better spent and used right here in the states we live in.

We need a change. A change away from Obama.

Just to piss everyone a little more, a reminder that Obama, while ignoring Texas disaster request, sent a lot of support to Mexico for their wildfires.

Susana Martinez is New Mexico's Republican Governor, I'm happy to report. However The LA Times is out for her blood.

"New Mexico abandons efforts to restore Mexican gray wolves" [excerpt] New Mexico's Game Commission on Thursday night voted to stop assisting the federal effort to restore Mexican gray wolves in the Southwest, the latest step by new Republican Gov. Susana Martinez's administration to reverse her state's green course. [end excerpt]

I guess there will be "no soup" for New Mexico either.

We haven't forgotten. Nor have we forgotten how we took in tens of thousands of displaced, homeless Katrina victims -- but Obama can only see his grievances.
