It is beginning to appear like civil center-right Republicans may indeed have a horse in the 2012 race -- Jon Huntsman. The more I learn about him, the more I get my hopes up that center-righters may finally find a champion in American politics. The former ambassador to China and governor of Utah brings a soft-spoken, moderate approach to politics. While the rest of the Republicans continue to disappoint (Palin is nuts, Pawlenty isn't worldly enough, Gingrich flamed out ... ), I am growing increasingly interested in Huntsman.
Phil Elliott of the AP has been covering Huntsman (along with all the other candidates and potential candidates).....
Huntsman is trying to portray himself as what an "honest broker" willing to say what others will not. For instance:
[SNIP of left-center left drivel]
I don't agree with everything Huntsman says. However, Huntsman scores mega points in my book because of his civility. In fact, he appears to be positioning himself to run as the civility candidate. Having served the Obama administration as ambassador, he has shown class by not blasting the president while on the campaign trail. While other candidates appear to be trying really hard (Romney's attempts at being folksy are so entertaining to watch) or are pandering to the more populist, provincial wing of the party (Gingrich, Pawlenty and of course, Palin are all guilty of this), Huntsman appears relaxed. He says he just wants to start a dialogue. Every candidate says that, but he looks like he really means it.
Huntsman currently lags in the polls. But I do hope his candidacy will help give shape to a center-right movement in Republican Party that mirrors the direction Britain's Conservative Party has taken.
[SNIP]
He sure outshines the current crop of candidates in the Republican circus.

I really hate the phony "My friend across the aisle bs."
Excellent post, Cincinatus’s Wife. The state-run media is in the tank for Zero. Everything they say, write, print, or show on video is intended to promote their evil, Marxist agenda.
“Civility” from those trash? It is to laugh. Sarah Palin is perfectly civil. She’s not using attacks on people’s personal lives, vulgar sexual insults, or saliva-spewing rants about the current administration. All she’s doing is accurately describing their values and actions.
And that, of course, is what they absolutely cannot have ... the truth clearly spoken.
I agree. I can't believe John Boehner agreed to play golf with Zero. He should have said, "I'm sorry, Mr. President, but I simply cannot socialize with someone I believe to be a deadly enemy of my country. It would be like playing with Osama Bin Laden, may he rest in pieces."
If the question is, “Can the repubic blue blood elites find someone to the left of romney to run”... then the answer is “huntsman”.
LLS
Uh NO.
I live in Utah, and believe me, they were dancing in the streets here when they learned he was going to China.
He’s an open borders type that could not get re-elected to the governor’s office here.
Let me guess: The writer is a DemonRat.
Huntsman is no different than the French who collaborated with the Nazis. A Vichy Republican.
Hunt(sman) for Blue November (2012)
Let me see. A former Fulbright Journalism Scholar who sent in bits and pieces of dreck from Europe to a Texas newspaper is now someone worth reading? Get serious!
Romney and Huntsman: The Lemon Twins.
Finally the democrats have found a candidate to
rally behind...
Go Palin~!
Synonyms: amenity, attention, courtesy, formality, gesture, pleasantry, politeness
Antonyms: discourteousness, discourtesy, impoliteness, incivility, rudeness, surliness, ungraciousness
The GOP field this writer sees are the "Antonyms" to "Civility."
If you don't agree with them you are "rude." LOL -- These LIBERALS!
Here we have intellectuals telling the country how to fight.
Huntsman is Obama’s favorite Republican, too. That should end any chance this no-principled middle-of-the-roader has of getting the nomination.
I'm sick of these hyphenated titles like center-right. You're conservative or your not, damn it.
Wow, I blew the grammar on three out of four in that post.
I guess Huntsman’s only purpose in running as a GOP candidate, is to allow himself to be juxtaposed with the rest of the field so the lamestream media can say he is “center-right” to [fill in polarizing term]...[fill in candidate name].
We’ve found someone worse that Romney - who will at least criticize Obama. Huntsman, what a joke.
Hunstman is center right? Maybe in France.
We’ve found someone worse that Romney - who will at least criticize Obama. Huntsman, what a joke. In an election where the voters want red meat, he offers arugula and sprouts.
Huntsman, a regular “Tea Party” favorite (sarc). He should join forces with Newt Gingrich and share his 2012 campaign staffers. Two RINOs for the price of one.
