I'm told by two reliable sources that Rudy Giuliani intends to run for the GOP nomination for president in 2012. He may throw his hat in the ring soon.
Rudy's theory of the race: In the fall of 2007, he decided he couldn't compete with both Mitt Romney and John McCain in New Hampshire, and disastrously decided to try to pull back there and pitch his tent in Florida. This year, he'll commit everything to New Hampshire, where he thinks he has a good shot at beating Romneywhom he criticized there earlier this week. He then thinks he can beat whichever more socially conservative candidate(s) is left by winning what are still likely to be winner-take-all primaries in big states like California, New York, and New Jersey.
Rudy's message: I'm tough enough to put our fiscal house in order and to protect us from enemies abroad. The U.S. in 2012 is in bad shapelike New York in 1993.

I'm sure it's only a matter of time before William Kristol or some other "neo-conservative" jack@ss comes out and starts pushing an unbeatable GOP ticket of Rudy Giuliani and Joe Lieberman for 2012. LOL.
Let the bull$hit begin with the road to the White house and may the best woman win!
I like Rudy too, but his angry son, shoplifting daughter and three marriages won’t sit well in a national election.
Surely Rudy knows he has no chance after 2008, and I do think he felt screwed by the Mittster. Whether he felt screwed enough to help Palin, who is pretty far on the other side of most issues than he is, is debatable. But I’d welcome him in the NH race if he weakens Mitt.
No thank you
Either would be a vast improvement over ObaMao. But so would the oak tree in my front yard.
"He is, at best, the solution to problems the rest of us don't have."
Don't say that too loud, too often or too strongly around here or you won't make your ten-year anniversary. But he certainly is a more acceptable RINO, if there is such a thing, than Romney who has changed his stripes more often than the cat in Alice's tree. I can see Rudy and Sarah getting along -- they both have courage and have been tested in ways that most of us would fail.
No it is not! Rudy and Romney can have their cat fight elsewhere! There will be no campaign for abortionist liberals on FR!
I doubt Rudy or anyone else would get in the race just to weaken another candidate, but seriously, do we really want to play these games?
Rudy is really not much of a conservative. Economics, foreign policy, defense, he is probably fine. Unfortunately, his liberalism/libertarianism on social issues is a terrible weakness. We need a candidate that can unite economic and social conservatives. Alienate social conservatives and we will not win in 2012. Giuliani is simply not an acceptable candidate.
Unfortunately, I thin the “short, bald, lisping Italian-American New Yorker with glasses” thing would have rendered him completely unelectable even if he were totally solid on all the issues.
What do you like best about him:
His pro-homosexual agenda support or his anti 2nd Amendment stance?
Which does not mean she will not run. Romney is talking himself out of the party core, and Sarah doesn't have to pay one cent to do it.
Do you like his pro-abortion viewpoints?
meh, dope.
Anti-gun to the point of addressing a Brady rally.
Pro-AGW.
Authoritarian control freak.
Pro-gay.
What could possibly go wrong? /Sarcasm with a capital 'S'.
Don’t even get me started on Rudy pimping Bernie Kerik to Bush for Homeland Security.
But an establishment Rino would have a great shot at VP.
Rudy and Mitt remember Reagan had to have his Bush Sr.
That is good to hear. I was starting to worry. Rooty is no asset to anybody. We went through all of that before.
He won’t gain any traction this time either.
