Republicans want Sarah Palin to be their nominee, but they like Mitt Romney's chances better in a head-to-head match-up against Barack Obama, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll.
Palin, the former Alaska governor and vice presidential nominee, has the support of 22 percent of Republicans surveyed, with Romney in second place, at 20 percent.
Texas Rep. Ron Paul and Atlanta businessman Herman Cain tie for third place with 7 percent each.
But of the Republican candidates, Romney runs the closest to Obama, at 38 percent to 51 percent. Obama outpolls former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty by 19 points and Palin by 23 points.
The Reuters/Ipsos poll is one of a number of surveys released this week. Most show Romney leading the GOP field.

Romney stands no chance of winning either the nomination or the general election. This polling propaganda is getting old.

Whatever it shows (good or bad, depending on your POV), a Reuters/Ipsos Poll is unreliable.

Support of 22% of republicans, so 88% want someone else. So someone else actually leads the polls.

Well, Well Well... I thought Newtus Agustus was leading the pack.
Palin may run, she may not. But she will no doubt be a huge influence on not only who will be the nominee, but help elect dozens of Tea Party Minded candidates to congress.
To: Cincinatus' Wife
Obama consistently polled above 50% and non of the GOP potentials could break 40%. I'm not sure the country is that set to elect Obama for a 2nd term but it does indicate that the GOP has work to do to bring him down. But then the election is some 18 months hence so time is on our side.

I agree with you on the general election, but he could win the primary. Dem crossover, plus Rove-in-Delaware style subversion and general GOP ward-heeler home cookin’.

Support of 22% of republicans, so 88% want someone else. You have fallen into the democrat math trap.

Just another dim push poll to bait you in and then demoralize you... mitt ain't getting anywhere near the nomination and Palin will be the next President. dims need to coordinate better on their propaganda because the Washington Post/ABC poll has mittwit and obamao both at 48% in a tie and Palin is about 6312 points behind mitt. Which is it demon rats? I'll tell you which it is... it is ALL lies to suck you in and then demoralize you with their oversampled... overcooked... too much special sauce... leading questioned polling and a thinking person knows this. FOAD leftists!

Not to worry about the general election...Posted earlier...
The first step is winning the GOP primary. If Palin can win the GOP primary, what could happen between now and November 2012 is a lot.
Obama, with a smile on his face, has put our country directly in the path of economic catastrophe. It would be amazing if this time next year we are not in really much worse economic shape. Evidence continues to mount that Obama isn't even legally POTUS. Two campaign slogan/questions Palin should be repeating:
1) Recession is when your neighbor loses his job.
Depression is when you lose yours.
And recovery is when Obama loses his.
2) "Are you better off than you were four years ago?"
God may yet have mercy on our country. I hope when (not if, too horrific to consider) Palin is elected, she immediately makes moves to stop the slaughter of the innocents.
