I explained to you what the E-Verify program does and doesn't do. I provided you with statistical data. It is a tool to help us enforce existing law using existing databases. It is still a voluntary program in most of the US. States like Arizona and Alabama have made it mandatory. It is a state decision and it is used only for new hires. You must be hired before your SSN is checked. This protects American jobs and forces the illegals to leave. AZ has seen a reduction of 18% of its illegal alien population since the introduction of its law in 2007 that was just found constitutional by SCOTUS.

You must present identity documents to get a driver's license, cash a check, etc. There are 12 to 20 million illegal aliens in our midst. If the politicians in both parties have refused to secure our borders and enforce the law and suffered no political consequences, then I blame the people. They get the government they deserve.

Those of us who have actually thought this through always knew that was a great camel's nose in the tent. Seems to be working quite well, as intended, to gradually make it mandatory.

It is indeed a powerful tool. It is also a POWER not enumerated in the Constitution. Power can be misused. What EV is telling you is that instituting the POWER is a dangerous thing. There are better ways to get rid of illegals that are proven to work.

Bounty systems can be so effective they were used to eradicate passenger pigeons to the point of extinction. All that would have to be done is to put a $5,000 bounty on an illegal turned in and deported with a $25,000 penalty on legal immigrants or citizens illegally detained. I promise you, in this job market they would be gone so fast it would scare you.

No, we do not need and should not institute E-Verify. A tool that can be misused to control employment is a very dangerous POWER to put in the hands of the Federal government.
