Crossing party lines to deliver a stunning rebuke to the commander in chief, the vast majority of the House voted Friday for resolutions telling President Obama he has broken the constitutional chain of authority by committing U.S. troops to the international military mission in Libya.
In two votes on competing resolutions that amounted to legislative lectures of Mr. Obama Congress escalated the brewing constitutional clash over whether he ignored the founding documents grant of war powers by sending U.S. troops to aid in enforcing a no-fly zone and naval blockade of Libya.
The resolutions were non-binding, and only one of them passed, but taken together, roughly three-quarters of the House voted to put Mr. Obama on notice that he must explain himself or else face future consequences, possibly including having funds for the war cut off.
He has a chance to get this right. If he doesnt, Congress will exercise its constitutional authority and make it right, said House Speaker John A. Boehner, the Ohio Republican who wrote the resolution that passed, 268-145, and sets a two-week deadline for the president to deliver the information the House is seeking.

It is only a tail wag to get the GUNRUNNER off the front page.
It would be like the impeachment of Andrew Johnson—for breaking a law of uncertain constitutionality. Whether the law Obama is ignoring is a valid law is still disputed.
Yep. We are lucky no Americans have been killed yet in this illegal war for Al Qaeda.
Boehner is such an ass. Obama can’t “make this right” unless he admits what he did waas wrong and stops the invasion of Libya. Even then it won’t ever be “right”. What Obama did was wrong. The remedy is impeachment.
Obama went into Libya as a diversion - “wag the dog” if you will. We all know what this is. There was no rationale
If Boehner had any guts he would cancel the golf outing with Obama and give the reason as being too busy to be wasting precious time & taxpayer money playing golf.
“The Boehner-led Republicans are shameful and weak!”

The most important item on Boehner’s agenda is his ability to play golf with Obama. Don’t say mean things about the House “leader” or he might cry.
The GOP fiddles while Rome burns. The Dems are busy lighting the fires.
This will really intimidate a guy that ignores federal court orders.
Roger to both of Allen West’s comments.
That’s why I never start any discussions in FR anymore. It’s too confusing and has too many rules. The whole process is not a bit user friendly. I’d rather just read what others post and reply to them. FR is still the best Conservative news forum around and I love it; I just won’t start discussions.
The House may impeach but you do realize in order for him to be removed from the Senate needs a 2/3 majority vote.. Not gonna happen..
The spineless Republicans are letting a sissy like BO run all over them as usual. Where are the men that we need to run this country?
Well, Bibi is in Israel...
