Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) said he met in recent weeks with Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) as Giuliani mulls a second run for president.
Giuliani said on conservative talker Sean Hannity's radio show that he'd met recently with McCain, the 2008 GOP nominee, and come away with the conclusion that it'd be better to focus on primary states if he were to run again.
Giuliani's campaign is widely seen to have stumbled because of his focus on the Republican primary in Florida, at the expense of earlier, traditional contests in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. By the time Florida arrived on the calendar, McCain had leapfrogged Giuliani, the early frontrunner in 2008, and virtually sealed the nomination.
The 2008 campaign was essentially "national" and ignored the contours and demands of the earlier primaries, Giuliani said. If he runs again, he's said he'll focus mostly on winning New Hampshire.
The former mayor was in the Granite State on Thursday for a state GOP fundraiser. He took a shot at former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) during that trip, likening the health reforms Romney sought as governor to President Obama's.
Giuliani said he respected McCain's campaign, including for his refusal to run too negative of a campaign, despite conservatives' clamoring for more direct shots at Obama.

I remember the very amusing cartoon that used to accompany threads like this.

No body cares who McAmnesty meets with. Another liberal— Gulianni wants another whippin. He needs to get OUT OF OUR PARTY!!
There is good advice here for Sarah Palin: once she starts a campaign tour, she needs to visit Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. Oh, wait, she's already got that scheduled. I hope she also has plans for a follow up ground campaign too, a serious one. She doesn't just have to beat Romney and then Obama. She has to beat the entire ruling elite establishment of both parties that is getting rich off the bloated federal government. Fortunately, she has what it takes to do that if her supporters will put in time and money in proportion to their enthusiasm.
This is what is wrong with the GOP today.
They are still standing, waiting at the bus stop at the corner of leftist & liberal, but the voters have taken the right town route.
The 2010 shakeout continues...
OUT of TOUCH with Americans!
All you retreads — GO AWAY!
I heard the interview. Rudy did NOT praise McCain for respecting Obama. He just said that that’s who McCain is.
I have no doubt that Rudy would go after Obama relentlessly in the unlikely event that he were nominated.
Why do these fools want to continue running?
No really, what is the actual reason they want to run?
Giuligoneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...
Time is short. Why don’t McCain and Giuliani get hitched and live out the few years they have left kissing each other’s posterior in private, instead of in public.
As for respecting Obama, even I respect the office. The man deserves no respect whatsoever. He is damaging our nation. What part of that does Giuliani not grasp?
Come on Rudy, out with the real conversation.
None of this changes the fact that Ruina Giussolini is a greasy fag loving, gun grabbing, has been who stated that illegal aliens were an asset to New York.
Run, Rudy, run!! (as far, far away as you can get).
Well, goody-goody for him.
I don’t respect anyone that don’t return the favor.
Obama is on the bottom of the totem pole for any respect.
Don’t care who he is. My stomach turns just hearing his voice
and I damn well don’t watch him at any time.
Agreed. During two morning cable news shows that I recently viewed, he eviscerated obama with some blunt, scorching language.
RINOs never learn.
“.....what is the actual reason they want to run?”
Matching funds. They can live high on the hog for a year
on someone else’s dime.
A punch bowl with two floating turds in it.
