FOX News contributor Charles Krauthammer gives his take on what a "Washington establishment elitist" thinks of a potential Sarah Palin run for the presidency. In self-deprecating fashion, Krauthammer says he wears Palin's "hoity-toity" comment as a badge of honor.
"She is very smart and adept. Great political instincts and is a star. The problem with her, I think, is that she is not schooled. I don't mean she didn't go to the right schools. I mean when you get into policy, beyond instincts -- I like her political instincts, I like her political overall view of the world -- but when it comes to policy, she had two-and-a-half years to school herself and she hasn't and that's a problem," Charles Krauthammer told Bill O'Reilly on Tuesday. "It's not only the lack of schooling, it's the lack of effort to school herself and the lack of insight to see that she needs it."

What a breath of fresh air she is. Reagan was the same way...he was one of ‘us’.
Exactly
In real world hard ball politics you not let poppets bluff you.
Charles, old boy ... your establishment undies are showing beneath your elitist country club tie.
You are absolutely correct. I watched Charles and I watched Palin on Gretta.
The only thing Charles said that wasn't positive was the “schooled” part, which he explained had NOTHING to do with what schools she went to.
She has had over 2 years to become a wonk. Even a semi-wonk. She shows no evidence of having done so.
Gretta asked her a policy type question, Palin answered in her general way. Gretta persisted for a more specific answer. (This is where Palin would have previously faltered). She did not. She improved her answer with a little more detail. She still seemed confident with her answer. Then Gretta (not getting the specifics she was looking for), drilled down in with her question. Palin wasn't prepared for this and became unsure and just repeated a combination of her two previous answers.
Now Gretta while fair and not a push over is certainly Palin friendly. And if anything, she showed Palin that she still isn't ready for tough deep questions.
I believe the Henry Ford story about having buttons on his desk to call in an expert for things he didn't know or have the best information on. Reagan may have been (to a certain extent)such a president.
Some may have no problem with this. Maybe values, character, principles, world view, judgment, and common sense is enough for some. I actually could agree with that. I would vote for Palin in a heartbeat. She is in strong contention for my vote (if she runs).
BUT WHAT CHARLES SAID WAS TRUE. In the past two plus years she could have studied more if she wanted to prepare fro the job.
How do I know this? I listen to her words. I listen to her answers. She speaks in generalities, cliches, and populist boilerplate. Only on energy does she seem to speak with authority of knowledge.
Like I said, this may be just fine, but it is the truth.
Senator? What a joke,,, why do you think being a senator qualifies one to be a better president? Being one one-hundredth of one half of a legislative body,,, prepares you to be a chief executive?
You can’t be serious. Besides,,, without Sarah, we’ll get a RINO like Mitt. If you don’t want her to be president, just say so,,, but don’t pretend you really want her,, but after a bit of time in the senate.
you missed his point.
I don’t think most of the posters on this thread heard him. I did and found the analysis accurate. In fact the point was originally posited by Bill O’ Reilly and Charles agreed. I have been a member of this website for over a decade and the level of analysis and depth of comments have decreased in recent years. Most responses are knee-jerk and void of thought. I would expect that on the left wing sites, but not here.
Were Sarah Palin elected, his eloquence and elitist dissection of liberal viewpoints would be meaningless BECAUSE HE CANNOT THINK AND SPEAK the language of the common real working American who actually pays taxes. He doesn't understand "Palin-Think" much less speak or write it.
There's a picture out there floating on the net that shows mama Sarah and baby Trip nestled in her arms, one peaceful the other loving and determined. This picture speaks volumes to me. Kraut? He's thinking what the hell is this for a President - she hasn't been schooled.....ridiculous.
LOL! Good one!
If you're alluding to the comments made by the man who interviewed her for the Veep slot, yes, she did say that if there might be civilians killed in the takedown of Osama bin Laden, she would still authorize it. Frankly, I don't see a problem with that. Yes, it would be sad that civilians might be killed, but given the fact that they would only be close to him if they were involved directly with him, there would be no other way to get to him.
More likely than not, she would have been given the scenario that Obama was given, but I can guarantee that she wouldn't have needed 16 hours to make up her mind on the issue.
Sara is schooled in common sense, patriotism and preservation of the Constitution. I’m getting very tired of Kraut’s RINO, out of touch beltway blathering. He’s no conservative - get over it Charles.
I sometimes think we have posters here who are just trying to cause dissent. At least more recently.
Sarah stated her position on Afghanastan’s objection to NATO forces killing innocents. A pretty blunt statement. What does Kraut have to say about that? Does he think it’s a stupid position or does he totally agree with it. If he agrees he’ll probably never admit it.
And people continually hold this marxist lite up as a conservative. Bet his ‘contribution’ list is interesting.
From what I understand about Palin, her policy is one of lower taxes, less intrusive government, projecting strength around the world, supporting allies and taking tough stances with non-allied countries, developing our natural resources and living up to our reputation as the best, freest nation in the history of the world. Sounds like damn good policy to me, Charles, or what am I missing?
I’ll bet you believe policy is government creating problems, talking in circles and blaming the American people for the problems created.
Obama won’t even tell us where he was schooled; he knows nothing about the Constitution, has never governed anything in his life, and only cares about apologizing to our enemies.
Sara is brilliant compared to O. How dare he call her unschooled!

“what am I missing?”
Schooling! ;>)
