On my blog last week I posted an excerpt from the Salon piece, Abortion saved my life.
The writer, a blogger named Mikki Kendall, was relaying her first person account of supposedly nearly hemorrhaging to death because a hospital doctor refused to perform the one procedure that would save her life, an abortion. Here was the quote I pulled:
I dont know if his objections were religious or not; all I know is that when a bleeding woman was brought to him for treatment he refused to do the only thing that could stop the bleeding. Because he didnt do abortions. Ever.
The story headline and subtitle: "Abortion saved my life: I almost died in an emergency room because the doctor on call refused to perform a necessary procedure."
Quoting Kendall from her article:
The doctor on call didnt do abortions. At all. Ever. In fact, no one on call that night did.
A very kind nurse risked her job to call a doctor from the Reproductive Health Clinic who was not on call, and asked her to come in to save my life . The doctor who didnt do abortions was supposed to have contacted her (or someone else who would perform the procedure) immediately. He didnt.
I dont know if his objections were religious or not; all I know is that when a bleeding woman was brought to him for treatment he refused to do the only thing that could stop the bleeding. Because he didnt do abortions. Ever.
My two kids at home almost lost their mother because someone decided that my life was worth less than that of a fetus that was going to die anyway.
My husband had told them exactly what my regular doctor said, and the ER doctor had already warned us what would have to happen. Yet none of this mattered when confronted by the idea that no one needs an abortion.
Kendall was clearly accusing a doctor of standing by to let her bleed to death because he opposed abortion, right?
For several reasons I doubted the veracity of Kendalls story (see the 1st comment on my blog and my comments at Salon on 5/27 at 8:30a, 11:23a, 11:33a, 12:32p, and 12:37p ).
There were many red flags. But the biggest was Kendalls claim that a doctor was willing to let her bleed to death after she presented with placental abruption, because he knew treatment would result in her babys death, a nonviable 20-weeker. This made no sense, particularly knowing nontreatment would ensure both the mother and baby died.
I asked why hadnt Kendall sued? Why didnt she name both the hospital and doctor? I concluded my comments at Salon by writing the publication was negligent for posting Kendalls story without fact-checking and should retract it.
Pro-aborts went on to slam me with their standard fare of slurs, nor did Kendall handle the criticisms very well. She blogged on May 27 that pro-lifers were motherf***ers and threatened, Im not a nice girl, and youre about to see that.
Then, on May 29, still aggravated by the comments and emails that are flooding my inbox, Kendall blogged:
Some say I should name and shame the doctor that refused to do the procedure. If I knew why he refused I might have done just that, but since I know that there are many possible reasons that he did not do it? Ive left him to deal with the internal procedures in place.
Excuse me? Kendalls entire Salon story was built upon her accusation that a heartless, negligent, anti-abortion doctor was willing to let her hemorrhage to death rather than provide a life-saving abortion.
And she has now admitted her story was a big, fat, fabricated lie.
Now will Salon retract?

Drudge has picked up the article, so the woman is now going to get the attention she seems to most desperately crave.
I’m sorry, like one of the commentators on the site, I’m not seeing where this woman has retracted her story. She may have changed the tone of it, but I don’t see a retraction. Her last post that appears at the link is rather rambling, addresses issues of who was looking after her other kids, etc. I can’t look into this any further, but I don’t think Stanek has really made her point.
Just your typical lying leftist.
As Lenin said, to paraphrase, “the end justifies the means.”
And I’m not talking about the mere lies this piece of trash uttered, but the fact that millions of women murder babies every year either blindly misled by or in open furtherance of the goals of feminazis, who are nothing more than communists, whether female or male.
No surprise there.
And another thing...
Is anyone else getting pretty effing sick and tired of all this black anger?
I sure as hell am.
If it’s intended to intimidate, it’s failing.
If it’s intended to rile, it’s working.
But they sure as hell better understand what they may face if they take this too far. And by “they” I mean the Racers orchestrating this potential conflagration, because they will lose their power.
The Klan would be executed if it tried to kill Blacks in the same numbers liberal abortionists do. If not for Roe there would be 1/3 more Blacks in America.
To a Democrat, lying is OK if it advances the cause. In fact, in the world of Democrats, lying is OK in almost any circumstance, as long as you support the right candidates.
Yes, I am too.
The next thing she does is play the race card.
Watch!
She may be a liar and evil but I didn't see anything at all indicating she admitted to embellishing her story. Sounds more like wishful thinking on the author's part.
At that point, it would not be an “abortion” (which is the first flag), it would be a delivery.
Not naming the hospital for fact checking is the next.
“”She may be a liar and evil but I didn’t see anything at all indicating she admitted to embellishing her story””
It’s simply amazing that so many freepers can jump on a story, comment on it without actually reading it. I guess the others saw something we couldn’t see as far as a “retraction” was concerned.
Salon; Where The Efeete Meet To Bleat
Are Just A Bunch Of Smellng Sheep
I read it and stand by my original comment. She said that it boils down to her word against the doctors and, while she isn't backing down on her word she doesn't think that's enough to get anything done to the doctor or hospital. Not anything close to admitting she embellished it.
I knew the story was bogus when I read it. A placental abruption if complete or sever enough causes the baby to die. A small one will sometimes be watched. The physician i the ER was not an ob-gyn physician so of coarse he did not do abortions. The procedure she would have had done would not be considered an abortion. She is just nuts.
The funny thing is, I actually have the pro-life movement to thank for this opportunity. If my HMO wouldn't have bowed to their pressure not to cover oral contraceptives, I never would've gotten pregnant in the first place. Then what would I be doing a week from Thursday? I'll tell you what I wouldn't be doing: going to an awesome abortion clinic where I'll be the center of attention from the minute I put my feet up in those stirrups.
This abortion is going to be so amazing. I'm definitely taking lots of pictures so I can remember every last detail of the whole experience for years to come and share my great memories with all of my friends, family and co-workers. What an easy decision this was!
So listen up, world: I'm pro-abortion... and I love it! See you at my post-abortion party, everybody!
(do I really need a sarcasm tag?)
That's attractive.
There ain't enough alcohol in the world . . . What got her preggers in the first place?
