Dupnik said there was "no reason for anybody to be suspicious of what happened." You should never question when your neighbor is gunned down in your neighborhood where your kids play. You should just say, "Thank God, the Pima County Sheriff's Department killed a bad guy."

The man killed in a SWAT team raid last month had been under investigation by the Pima County Sheriff's Department for 20 months as part of a major drug and homicide investigation, Sheriff Clarence Dupnik said Tuesday during an editorial meeting with the Star.

But details of the investigation into Jose Guerena's activities won't be released because an informant for the Sheriff's Department could be in danger, Dupnik said. "There's a chance that our informant is going to get killed," he said.

Guerena was killed when SWAT officers fired 71 rounds from the front door of his home in the 7100 block of South Redwater Drive, while serving a search warrant on May 5, department officials have said.

Guerena was hit 22 times and died at the scene, according to a preliminary report by the Pima County Medical Examiner's Office.

Two weeks after the shooting, officers were alerted to a storage room at Ajo Kinney Super Storage, 5175 W. Ajo Highway, rented to Jose Guerena's mother, Bertha, Dupnik said.

20 months. Almost two years. Have to have more than “was arrested as he left the mine where he worked” as a headline for your efforts I guess. Although I suppose, in those 20 months, the opportunity never presented itself.

Watched for 20-months and all they found was a Border Patrol hat.

I haven’t been following this very closely but if they could spend nearly TWO YEARS investigating how come they had to flash mob his house and shoot him dead in the end?

Surely they knew his patterns and could have detained him somewhere along the way before executing whatever warrant they had.

20 month investigation and they said they had no idea who would be in that house.

I cannot believe this man has not been removed from office after his irresponsible actions following the Congresswoman’s Gifford’s shootings. He shows on a national scale the disasterous consequences of what electing an incomptent egotistical individual can have.

Isn’t it strange how suddenly all of this “new” evidence from the storage facility became available... especially after they have had a whole month to manufacture it?

Send sheriff Joe to investigate.
He can then put him in pink underwear. . . . .

Guerena worked a job in a mine. How hard would it have been for the sheriff to arrest him at work. I mean there are not exactly a lot of ways in and out of a mine. But, I guess that would have obviated the “fun” of having a SWAT raid by dufus Dupkik.

“Officers also found high-end military gear and advanced weather protective clothing inside the storage locker, Kastigar said.”

What, turnout gear? Which would make have the guys in the state suspects. Not to mention that they only found out about the storage unit after the raid. Some investigators they are, yessir.

When Jared Loughner killed 6 people and wounded Representative Giffords (and a bunch of others) Sheriff Dipnik tried to blame conservative talk radio.

Dupnik statement:
"When the rhetoric about hatred, about mistrust of government, about paranoia of how government operates, and to try to inflame the public on a daily basis, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, it has impact on people especially who are unbalanced personalities."

Dupnik blames Political Rhetoric

Dupnik is the primary "unbalanced personalities" and his staff faithfullly follows their unbalanced leader. But we are supposed to "trust government". I don't think so.
