Man killed in SWAT raid was under investigation 20 months, sheriff says

The man killed in a SWAT team raid last month had been under investigation by The Pima County Sheriff’s Department for 20 months as part of a major drug and homicide investigation, Sheriff Clarence Dupnik said Tuesday during an editorial meeting with the Star. But details of the investigation into Jose Guerena’s activities won’t be released because a criminal informant for the sheriff’s department could be in danger, Dupnik said. “There’s a chance that our informant is going to get killed,” he said. Guerena died after SWAT officers fired 71 rounds from the front door of his home in the 7100 block of South Redwater Drive, while serving a search warrant on May 5, department officials have said. Guerena was shot 22 times and died at the scene, according to a preliminary report by the Pima County Medical Examiner’s Office. See Wednesday's Arizona Daily Star for more of this story.

Oh, well then just never mind then.

All’s fair in the War on Drugs.

Oh. Well. If they were investigating him, then he must have been guilty. And therefore he deserved to die. I get it now. [/s]

One might question the reliability of the informant at this point.

So they shoulda been able to a) find some evidence, and b) arrest him without killing him.

Ol' Dipstick knew Jared was nuts and yet he let him run around the area and then kill people.

Why should anyone start believing this guy now.

To a degree Dipstick's story sounds like Tony Weiner's. He has an undercover agent who is doing secret stuff and might be killed so he can't tell you anything. All secret-secret, double-secret stuff ~ all hush-hush.

Seems to me it would be as easy for Dipstick to take his siren-vehicle over there and pick up that agent as it would be for Weiner to allow independent computer experts in to evaluate his phone!

“because a criminal informant for the sheriff’s department could be in danger, Dupnik said”

Why then of course the information is good. Carry on.

Well, that makes everything all right. Anyuone who has been under investigation for 20 months deserves to be shot down like a dog.

It’s funny they investigate him for 20 months and he hasn’t got a piece of dope in his house. They investigate him for 20 months and cannot arrest him on the way home from work , they have to dress in their Ninja gear and storm his house.

They investigate him for 20 months and they don’t know his wife and kid are in the house with him.

Maybe they need some new investigators.

sounds like more sand-dancing to me.
He only purchased his house 2 months before.
he was working 12 hour shifts at a mining company.
he had NOTHING on his record but traffic tickets.

...in 2 years of supposedly investigating him,
he did nothing they could arrest him for?
...they admit the SWAT team found NOTHING criminal in the search, after they murdered him.

most likely, if the “informant” story is true, which i doubt, the informant was lying to the Sheriff.
in which case, the informant should be charged as an accessory to murder.

Well, dude was certainly economical by purchasing a $100K house if he was involved in a big drug cartel. And he had cheap toys in the back yard for his kids. And cheap stuff in the house. Drug dealing is not very profitable these days, I guess.

“Dupnik said. “There’s a chance that our informant is going to get killed,””

If my life and continued safety depended on the competence of Sheriff Dumpneck, I do believe I would relocate someplace very, very far in very, very short order.

That's exactly what I thought.

Dupnik said. “There’s a chance that our informant is going to get killed,”

Yeah, but by whom? ...SWAT??

None of it is relevant to the crimes committed by Dupnik & his SWAT goons anyway.

I am not on the sherriff’s side on this, but it is good strategy to not keep illegal property on your property.

You keep it in storage.

He purchased the house in December. I’m guessing it was a repo. There are lots of those in the area. There are nicer ones for the same price. It just doesn’t fit what I would expect from a drug dealer. Now the house where the relatives who were murdered lived was a really nice house though it was a rental. And it was in a more rural location. The Guerena house is in a very large neighborhood though the neighborhood is in the middle of nowhere.

Yeah, and Weiner didn’t send the picture, Bill didn’t do Monica and the Duke lacrosse team raped the whore. We believe you, Dupnik . You’re real credible.
