he Obama Administration is getting ready to ditch the Food Pyramid, a symbol of healthy eating for the last two decades.
In its place, officials are "dishing up" a simple, plate-shaped symbol, sliced into wedges for basic food groups and half-filled with fruits and vegetables.
Beside the plate is a smaller circle for dairy, suggesting a glass of low-fat milk or perhaps a yogurt cup.
The revised pyramid is part of the administration's crusade against obesity, led by first lady Michelle Obama.

I’m not sure what you mean.
The things that will help you lose weight are: a) a reduction in starchy carbs; b) an increase in lean proteins, and: c) exercise.
As far as I know, none of these things has been banned. Low-fat, high-carb food pyramids only work when you are doing a tremendous amount of exercise, so I would refer you to my OP: Michelle Obamunist is a frigging idiot.
>>The things that will help you lose weight<<
There are tons of other things that HAVE been banned that help you drop pounds too.
Ephedra comes to mind immediately.
“If you do stupid, high-risk stuff that results in an overall drain on the benefits system,”
In other words “govt approved”, the govt decides what is high risk. How very progressive of you.
Do it for the childreeeeeen.
>>If you do stupid, high-risk stuff that results in an overall drain on the benefits system<<
Like riding a motorcycle? Or walking in snowstorms? Or playing tennis?
Any of those cause injuries but they are PC to talk about.
Hellsbells, how about pregnancy or unprotected gay sex?
Wrong again.
High risk meaning that your choices to smoke, eat crap and not exercise will cause you to develop health conditions that will vastly increase your odds of needing expensive, prolonged medical care.
I am in health insurance. If you have a high body-mass index, smoke, drink, use drugs, etc, you will pay more for insurance... BECAUSE YOU WILL USE MORE INSURANCE.
If you smoke or drink or eat McDonald’s, I don’t care. If you do these things while I’m paying for your health coverage, you can bet your ass I have an issue with it because you’re costing me money that, had you made more responsible choices with your health, I would not otherwise have had to pay. When it comes to the American taxpayer paying for health benefits for people who have no inclanation to pay for them themselves, as well as no inclanation to quit the behaviors which cause them to use more services, I stand for putting hard rules in place that will curtail the systemic drain caused by idiocy.
All the medical bills from all the motorcycle accidents in the US don’t come anywhere near the sum total caused by the long-term effects of smoking. Tennis? Please illustrate how tennis, walking, footsie, etc. create a drain on Medcaid benefits, in comparison to smoking, obesity, and drug use.
I think that state/federal medical benefits for pregnancy should cease after your third out-of-wedlock child. If you have a federal drug conviction, they should cease after the first.
No I am not wrong. You are seeking to use the govt to pick and choose what lawful behaviors people can participate in.
That is a progressive concept. If you’re using the money angle ALL things are connected. Which is why the progressives use it.
So Comrade, what other behaviors will be unapproved? hunting? Sky Diving? Scuba? Target Shooting? Religious worship?
Are you familiar with the side effects of ephedra?
I doubt there are many insurance companies that would insure an infantryman in a war zone, and if they did, I doubt the soldier would be able to afford it regardless of how much they were paid.
(As a side note, the most money I earned while I was in the Army was $300 a month. I was an E4, with Jump Pay, Combat Pay and no income tax. This worked out to about $10 a day or less than 50 cents an hour for a 24/7 work schedule)
Fortunately pay has gone up since 1965.
Moochelle herself can’t deal with obesity - she certainly isn’t in a position to lecture others on that issue. She has the credibility of a hippopotamus.
Which is EXACTLY why the government should NOT be in the health insurance industry. Or any other industry for that matter. There are precious few things that the government can do, which cannot be done better and in a less costly manner in the private sector.
Yes, you are wrong. Please show where I said that the government should make ANY behavior illegal, or that the government should pick and choose ANY behaviors that anyone can participate in.
What I DID say was that the taxpayer should not have to foot the bill for someone else’e poor choices, and that people should take more responsibility for their actions... and if I recall correctly, self-reliance is one of the cornerstones of conservative thought. Are you honestly trying to insinuate that public benefits should be awarded to those who refuse to take responsibility for their own actions, no matter how great the cost? How progressive of you.
For example, I am a hunter. If I am shot while hunting, should someone else be forced to pay the bill? Of course not.
I think you should probably review my posting history before making a fool of yourself like that again.
Agreed.
>>Are you familiar with the side effects of ephedra?<<
You mean the actual side effects when taken by a responsible user or the side effects when abused?
The herb Ma Huang has been used for centuries for weight loss as well as asthma, colds and hay fever.
>>All the medical bills from all the motorcycle accidents in the US dont come anywhere near the sum total caused by the long-term effects of smoking.<<
Reference?
Seriously, some 80 year old smoker has a heart attack and it’s attributed to smoking. The stats are so slanted, it’s pitiful.
You’re talking about a govt program so the govt is deciding whats approved. Guess that was a hard connection to make.
But no surprise, the insurance companies SUPPORTED Obamacare. They thought they were gonna make money so they threw everyone in this country to the wolves.
“If I am shot while hunting, should someone else be forced to pay the bill? Of course not.”
Of course not Comrade, its not a govt approved activity.
Forgive my unclarity. I was referring to federal medical services to discharged veterans, not for active duty troops in a war zone.
There are thousands of “choices” that people make in their lives that may have the effect of increasing health care expenditures. Choosing NOT to abort a Down Syndrome child, for example. An elderly person choosing aggressive treatment rather than palliative care for cancer. Once we invite the government to start regulating our life choices in the interest of saving money, do you really think they’ll stop at smoking and weight loss? Conservatives should not go down that road.
