OKLAHOMA CITY -- Some Oklahomans are outraged over the conviction of pharmacist Jerome Ersland, and they are turning to social media to voice their opinions.
A jury found Ersland guilty of murder in connection with the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Antwun Parker, sparking a backlash of citizens outraged with the verdict.
Dozens of calls have been made to Gov. Mary Fallin's office along with messages posted on the governor's Facebook wall, asking her to pardon Ersland.
"For us to punish someone who was protecting his employees and his business was really unlawful," said resident Brandy Crawford. "I feel bad for all the families involved. I really feel bad for the mother losing her child the way she did. But when people commit crimes, they have to understand there are consequences to that crime."

As for me, I think that any time someone decides to wave a gun in someone's face, or even tag along with someone who does, the right to draw air is rescinded.
I hope at some point very soon we can have an adult conversation about all the issues involved in this. And I hope that we don’t get back to judgments made by considering whose riots the ruling class fears more.

My understanding of the story was Antwan(sp?) was shot in the head then the pharmacist guy shot him five more times while Antwan was laying on the floor apparently unconscious or immobile .
Ersland ran past him to follow the armed criminal who was fleeing the scene.
The armed criminal got away, so Ersland stupidly and dangerously discharged the rest of his rounds into the air.
Frustrated, he went back inside, walked past the unconscious criminal on the floor and, with his back to him, got another loaded weapon and pumped five rounds into the unconscious, unarmed man on the floor.
Then he lied to the police and said he was fired at, which he was not.
Then he lied about being a decorated combat veteran.
Ersland is a scumbag and a coward who executed an unarmed and unconscious man in cold blood.
That’s cold blooded murder.
People have had enough of these juvenile criminals who wreak havoc on society. They are excused for their behavior and come out smelling like a rose while the victims are left to pick up the pieces, bury their dead and watch their bank accounts deplete as they replace the stolen goods and repair the vandalism. People earning an honest living, working sunup to sundown to support their families are having to put up with these animals who have been indiscriminately bred who think nothing of taking what is yours and killing for fun. And don’t feed me the crap about being black and society is to blame. They have more money and opportunities thrown at them than I will earn in my lifetime and still willingly end up in the gutter.
Maybe if one of these animals feared being held accountable instead of giving the finger to the victims, the court system and society in general, maybe they would think twice before the Antwuns of the world committed a crime.

The kid is pointing a gun at me. I shoot him first, before he shoots me. He goes down. I'm not going to stop shooting.

The pharmacist will win on appeal. It's just a shame that he'll have invest his life savings to pay the lawyers.

Now if the pharmacist had acted like the police in this matter, destroyed the video and then just SHUT HIS MOUTH , he would be free. I've posts this on every thread this has been posted. The cops are not your friends. Never talk to the cops.
The shooter should have said NOTHING...jeez. This is the second story like this I've seen. FReepers need to pass the word to everybody they know who has a CCW or a weapon to defend themselves in office or home... DON'T SAY ANYTHING!!! except "I was afraid for my life and then immediately, "My attorney will answer ALL further questions." That's it.. nothing, no "I'm sorry", "I shot him"... "I only was defending myself"..."I thought he had a weapon, I didn't know he wasn't armed".. "He didn't look like a teenager"... NOTHING. Don't answer the cops about the type of weapon you have, your ammo, your training, NOTHING. Tell the first cop about you being afraid for your life, then STFU.
Point to your weapon that you have unloaded and laid out in the open on the ground and then just have a seat. When the cops get there, stand up with your hands up and palms out.
Do EVERYTHING they tell you to do. You will be placed on the ground, cuffed and put in the cruiser.
If the cops keep pumping you for statements, DO NOT REENACT the crime. NOTHING. Only that you DO NOT UNDERSTAND YOUR RIGHTS AND YOU WANT AN ATTORNEY.
The cops aren't your friends and the press isn't either. If you mistate, lie , embellish or say anything , it will be used against you. Especially from a DA that wants to make a name or a cop that wants to get a promotion.
The cops are the only ones allowed to murder someone nowadays and get a promotion, overtime enhanced pension in addition to disability payments for life. Remember -Keep your mouth shut. Then pray that you get a good lawyer, DA that doesn't want to crusade and cops that are trying to go home early so screw up the paperwork. If these don't fall into place, you're in for a terrible year or more and I feel sorry for you.
Your are right this is no different in a SWAT team that lets a man bleed out instead of calling the MEDICS it’s murder.

O.K. I screwed up.
Ersland murdered the kid in cold blood. No credit to young Antwun. But Ersland's actions were uncalled for.
