A detailed Qualitative Approach to the Cold Fusion Nuclear Reactions of H/Ni (Focardi & Rossi)
Journal of Nuclear Physics ^ | 5/25/11 | Prof Christos Stremmenos

Posted on 05/27/2011 2:17:17 PM PDT by Titus-Maximus

After several years of apparent inaction, the theme of cold fusion has been recently revitalized thanks to, among others, the work and the scientific publications of Focardi and Rossi, which has been conducted in silence, amidst ironical disinterest, without any funding or support. In fact, recently, practical and reliable results have been achieved based on a very promising apparatus invented by Andrea Rossi. Therefore I want to examine the possibility of further development of this technology, which I deem really important for our planet.

Introduction I will start with patent no./2009/125444, registered by Dr. Ing. Andrea Rossi. This invention and its performance have been tested and verified in collaboration with Prof. Sergio Focardi, as reported in their paper, published in February 2010 in the Journal of Nuclear Physics [1]. In that scientific paper they have reported on the performance of an apparatus, which has produced for two years substantial amounts of energy in a reliable and repeatable mode and they have also offered a theoretical analysis for the interpretation of the underlying physical mechanism.

In the history of Science, it is not the first time that a practical and reliable apparatus is working before its theoretical foundation has been completely understood! The photoelectric effect is the classic example in which the application has anticipated its full theoretical interpretation, developed by Einstein. Afterwards Einstein, Plank, Heisenberg, De Broglie, Schrödinger and others formulated the principles of Quantum Mechanics. For the interactive Nickel/Hydrogen system it would be now opportune to compile, in a way easily understood by the non expert the relevant principles and concepts for

Getting cold fusion in a physics journal is a surprise.

Maybe they have something. I heard Focardi and Rossi could not get it patented, because the office didn't believe it! (Violated the rules of physics?)

Anyway, they are going into production for a commercial product - this ought to be entertaining.

This is a step in the right direction for sure. Will be watching this for sure.

I suspect there’s some interesting chemistry going on in “cold fusion”, but I doubt it’s a nuclear thing.

I will believe this when I can buy Mr. Fusion at Walmart.

The "Journal of Nuclear Physics" is the inventor's blog, not a real journal.

Well, if you can't trust the blog of the "inventors" that cleverly disguises itself as a respected peer reviewed journal, who can you trust? Hahahha. More info at the link below...

Got it confused with Nuclear Physics Journal from 1956. Pretty goofy. Starting your own journal because no one would listen.

I especially like this little touch on the left sidebar:

Peer Review
All the articles published on the Journal Of Nuclear
Physics are Peer Reviewed. The Peer Review of every paper
is made by at least one University Physics Professor.

By this standard, my kids' homeworks were "Peer Reviewed."

Yeah, pretty cringeworthy. The internet era has made this an entertaining affair, because people have posted Google street views of his claimed company's addresses (they point to apartment buildings, homes, etcetera).

All is not lost. Some reputable people outside Rossi’s circle are interested in what is going on. Steve Krivit for one. I’m interested in the outcome but it’s important to note that the Nuclear Physics Journal is not a legitimate publication.

They got their patent, or one of them at any rate, a few weeks ago. See http://newenergytimes.com/v2/sr/RossiECat/RossiECatPortal.shtml

It really doesn't matter if we understand the underlying principles so long as it works. We don't "understand" gravity. We just stuck a label on the fact that things attract to each other at a certain predictable level. Sticking labels on things gives us the illusion of understanding them, but the important point here is that they apparently have a repeatable, predictable, stable process that is ready for commercialization.
