More like 1.5%. Once you remove the young females who think it is cool to say they are bisexual.
Now why would gay activists want a 7X overestimation of their numbers? Because three and a half million gay Americans out of 300 million Americans isn’t shit - but twenty five million gay Americans would make them a powerful voting block.
The people were fooled. It was intentional.
I think the real reason is to try and argue the mantra of “everyone is doing it” in the sense that plenty of people commit the homosexual behaviors, therefore people don’t need to care about their agenda. This argument is a bad red herring if I ever heard one.

It’s more than that - it is about “unofficial” set-asides & quotas. If 25% of us were deviants like that, and you added the number of Americans who choose not to procreate, we’d be 97.8% Hispanic by now.

Yes, the propaganda tends to exaggerate the proportion of gays — and the public has really been bamboozled by this.
The proportion is more like 2% at best.
Another thing is that the propaganda likes to lump everything together. My personal belief is that there are different kinds of homosexuality, reflecting the different etiologies. Also, Lesbians and male homosexuals can be quite different from each other. They are not just mirror images. For example, Lesbian couples stay together much longer, and make much better parents. Male homosexual pairings only rarely of long duration.
So, when people discuss whether homosexuals should be able to adopt, it is better to let Lesbians adopt than to have a child with no care — but letting male homosexuals adopt is asking for trouble.
Oh, did I just discriminate by “gender”? I guess that I did, because the sexes (so-called “genders”) really are different. An ideologue with a system will never pay attention to plain facts like this.
That figure is taught regularly to our elite school children across a variety of programs in school and extracurricular. It’s indoctrination.

I think the gays have generally dropped the 10%, although they usually now say it’s 2% - which is probably a crock as well. Either your number is correct or it’s less than that. The problem is when you live where I live, EVERYONE seems gay.
