WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. adults, on average, estimate that 25% of Americans are gay or lesbian. More specifically, over half of Americans (52%) estimate that at least one in five Americans are gay or lesbian, including 35% who estimate that more than one in four are. Thirty percent put the figure at less than 15%.
Just your best guess, what percent of Americans today would you say are gay or lesbian? 2002 and 2011 Trend
The findings, from a Gallup poll conducted May 5-8, 2011, mark the second time Gallup has asked Americans to estimate the gay population. In 2002, Gallup used two separate questions to ask Americans to estimate the percentage of gay men and lesbians. At that time, Americans estimated that 21% of men were gay and that 22% of women were lesbian. Twice as many did not offer an opinion as do now.
There is little reliable evidence about what percentage of the U.S. population is in reality gay or lesbian, due to few representative surveys asking about sexual orientation, complexities surrounding the groups and definitions involved, and the probability that some gay and lesbian individuals may not choose to identify themselves as such. Demographer Gary Gates last month released a review of population-based surveys on the topic, estimating that 3.5% of adults in the United States identify as lesbian, gay, or bisexual, with bisexuals making up a slight majority of that figure. Gates also disputes the well-circulated statistic that "10% of the males are more or less exclusively homosexual."
Americans' current collective estimate -- which is substantially higher than Gates suggests -- is likely driven more by perceptions and exposure than by scientific measurement or reality.

Sex Survey of American Men Finds 1% Are Gay
By FELICITY BARRINGER
Published: April 15, 1993
....shows that about 2 percent of the men surveyed had engaged in homosexual sex and that 1 percent considered themselves exclusively homosexual.
And a lot of info here:

Exactly right. This campaign has been going on in this country since at the very least, "The Kinsey Reports", which were released in 1948 and 1953.
The American Family Research Center link above has lots of info about Kinsey, his motives, his lies and so on, and what real numbers are. Easy to read format too so useful to send to people whose minds are open.
“U.S. Adults Estimate That 25% of Americans Are Gay or Lesbian”
A ridiculous number.
The gobernment schools are really messing with the luittle kid’s minds telling them that there are boys, there are birls, and there are some that are both, or some who think they are the other than they are. This is the way they recruit! In our government schools! no wonder their ranks have swollen! Those poor little kids! No wonder Almighty God has been withdrawing His grace from America!
Even the 3.5% estimate is probably too high. As long as those pervs are never unsupervised around children (including harangueing in the public schools) or in control of mortgage lending (or any other elected decisionmaking position), I’m cool. Thanks sickoflibs.
I think it’s more like 15% in SF.
I think it’s closer to 99%.
The real number is something no more than 2% of adult males and a fraction of one percent of adult females. The numbers may differ somewhat in different studies depending upon the criteria used to define male homosexual and/or lesbian.
My niece in college calls lesbians “LUGS” (Lesbian until graduation)
Seems that they’ve found an advantage in being an “oppressed” class.
That figure is taught regularly to our elite school children across a variety of programs in school and extracurricular. It’s indoctrination.
Only 25%? With all the Press and Hollywood exposure I was sure it was the other way around. 75/25
Ignore, mock at your peril. What you are seeing is the power of propaganda. That power votes!
Common misconceptions about homosexuality:
1. Gays are 10% of the population
No academic would agree. Numerous surveys in many countries show that (including bisexuals) gays are 2-3% of the population and lesbians are 1-2%.

Genetic implications of percentage
of SSA in the population:
By 2010, more than thirty surveys of homosexual occurrence were based on genuinely representative samples, mostly from Western countries (see Figures 8 to 11). The results are nowhere near 10%; they are about 2-3% including bisexuality. Included are recent Dutch figures, which are atypically high, but make almost no difference to the mean or spread of results.
So from about 1990 to 2010 about 1% of the adult male population was exclusively homosexual,
7 and about 0.6% of the adult
female population was exclusively lesbian at any given timea grand mean of 0.8% of the total adult population. If bisexuality is included the figure rises to 2.9± 2.0% for men and 1.8± 1.3% for women* (the errors are standard deviations). Around 2.4% of the total adult population is homosexual, lesbian, or bisexual. The homosexual percentage is nowhere near one in ten of the population.

Just like some crap movie or lady gaga, you can promote anything to look grander than reality.
Sheeple hear all the comotion and think its a herd, not the scrapple it really is.
If Gallup calls these geniuses during the NBA playoffs, he could get them to say that 95% of Americans are black.
One of the reasons I started the Homosexual Agenda Categorical Index of links was to educate people, but FR isn't a good place to store all that data. I only say that because we can't edit or update posts. I actually tried to completely reorganize the index of links but it wouldn't post right—it was too large.
Every once in a while I think of new ways to propagate all that information. I think a website dedicated to categorizing all that information is the best route to take. One of these days I'll do something about it... it's just time.
I really appreciate you, wagglebee, DJ MacWoW and others for everything you all do in fighting this fight. All your work doesn't go unnoticed.
People generally don’t think in terms of probabilities—this poll also provides categories when the underlying metric is a continuous variable from 0 to 100 percent. If I ask a question that I have information suggests the most probable correct value is about 2 percent but then provide a set of categories that nearly all are higher, you would find people generally would pick a category near the middle of the set. This is old stuff in psychology research and it is a good illustration of the difference between polling and scientific measurement.
A key clue is that the more education the respondent has, the lower the estimated percentage. This is probably a better test of a person’s knowledge, than of the issue it claims to measure.
Please don’t say “pole” and “San Francisco” in the same sentence. You might start a riot or a holiday.
I was thinking of you when I pinged this article - and thinking how feeble I am compared to when you were doing the pinging! I just try to hop along in your footsteps as best I can.
You did tremendous work here, scripter, and I learned so much from you.
I hope you and yours are all well and happy!!!
