DENVER -- A 27-year-old man who lost control while sliding down a railing at Coors Field during a Tuesday afternoon Rockies game has died, Denver police said.
Police spokesman Sonny Jackson said the man was hospitalized in critical condition after falling about 20 feet onto concrete during the seventh inning of the opening game of a doubleheader.
Jackson said that witnesses say the man was trying to slide down the staircase railing, lost his balance, fell and struck his head.

Darwin Award nominee.
What a sad and foolish way to die. May God bless and comfort his family.
Ditto. 27 years old...
Gee - I wonder if booze was involved?
We’ll be hearing from the ambulance chasers soon.
So, I guess it’s time to start requiring baseball fans to wear protective headgear while attending Major League games..

Outlaw bannisters, concrete, and baseball....
Wow that sucks!
There’s a REASON for that rail being there. It’s a long way down from the top of those tunnels. I’m just glad he didn’t land on anybody. He probably would have lived, and they would have died instead, or been seriously injured.
Video?
A few embedded razor blades on the handrail would put an end to that foolishness.
It’s all fun and games until somebody cracks their skull open.<:>
As I recall the opening for those tunnels is called a vomitory — wierd name isn’t it.
At Kaufmann Stadium in Kansas City during a Royals game some years back, we had a young man of about the same age try and do a hand-stand off the rail at the top of one of those.
He also died.
What a sad and foolish way to die. May God bless and comfort his family.

God may bless, but I’m guessing Coors Field will provide the “comfort”.
If ya know what I mean.
I used to slide down bannisters in high school all the time. Of course I was sober too.
Lawsuit filed in 3.....2......1
Everyone will need to wear fall restraint harness and lanyard per OSHA 1926.760(a)(1) stds when traversing stairways.
"So, did they manage to put an end to that foolishness?"
"No, but they sure slowed it down!"
Very sad.

The operative word here is COORS...or perhaps Bud, Jim Beam....
You know you’re a redneck if you’ve ever said “hold my beer and watch this”.
