The skies over Marina Del Rey will be dark this Fourth of July after budget issues forced the cancellation of its popular fireworks display.
Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors announced on their website Monday that the annual fireworks show will not be active due to "budget curtailments."
The show has been a popular draw for the seaside community, bringing thousands and snarling traffic near the Fisherman's Wharf tourist stop and channel-area beaches.
The department still encouraged locals to visit the city, reminding that "hotels, restaurants, retailers and local attractions will be open, parks and beaches are popular, and it will be a great day to get out on the water for fishing, boating and cruising."
Well that and they would rtather pay for illegal aliens tuition and welfare than to celebrate America. Piss be upon them.

Meanwhile, LA still has $500 million to spend to build ONE high school on the site of the old Ambassador hotel...
Also canceled a major 4th display in Torranceso they could keep their Rose Parade float.
The new normal SUCKS!
This is another variation of the “Washington Monument” defense.
As far as I’m concerned they can just cancel California. Period.
They don’t get “Independance Day” anyway. No loss.
As long as the Cinco de Mayo activities weren’t effected....
Of course they would never cancel Cinco de Mayo.
4th of July celebrants can head South to HB and check out the fireworks show they do from the end of the pier. Parking sucks, but the rest of the experience is nice.
ATTENTION INDIANA/OHIO/MICIGAN FREEPERS!
Gigantic Fireworks Show Coming Memorial Day Weekend! (Hamilton Indiana)
So, how did you like it, I thought it turned out pretty good.
after budget issues forced the cancellation of its popular fireworks display.
I really don’t see a problem here. All they have to do is ask all LA gang members to be outside at dark and fire off their semi-automatics into the sky all at once. It would really be a show stopper!;)
As a Torrance resident with a prime view of the (former) fireworks, I am disappointed, but I’m glad we’re keeping the float. We just had the very patriotic annual Armed Forces Day Parade, and we are definitely not running out of patriotism. But I understand that if you skip a year on the Rose Parade Float, you can’t just get back in the line-up next year. Torrance is coming up on its centennial and I hope the Rose Parade float will be part of that. Not just any city gets to be in the Rose Parade. (Yes, I am a Rose Parade fanatic.)
For other evidence that the “new normal” sucks, though, check out all the empty storefronts on Hawthorne Blvd. Sad.
Leave celebrating to the private sector.
Good. It is about time that EVERYONE sacrifice for this budget disaster. Everyone has their pet projects and nobody wants to give up anything.
“...but can afford to pay some life guards over $100,000 a year?”
Seriously?!
