Hochul (D) leads Corwin (R) by 6 (NY-26 Special Election Poll)
PPP ^ | 5/22/11 | Tom Jensen

Raleigh, N.C. – Democrat Kathy Hochul continues to appear poised for an upset victory in Tuesday's special election for Congress in New York's 26th Congressional District. She is polling at 42% to 36% for Republican nominee Jane Corwin and 13% for Tea Party candidate Jack Davis.

Since a PPP poll of the race two weeks ago Hochul has gained 7 points of support and Corwin has gained 5 while Davis has dropped by 11. It appears that Hochul has done a good job of staying above the fray as the campaign has taken on an increasingly negative tenor in its final days. Hochul's favorability is a +14 spread at 51/37, up 8 points from the previous poll when it was +6 at 46/40. Corwin meanwhile has seen a 15 decline in her net favorability. She was already unpopular at -3 (39/42) on our previous poll but that is now much worse at -18 (34/52). Davis has seen the biggest decline in his image though. Voters were evenly split 43/43 in their assessments of him two weeks ago. Now his favorability spread is a horrid -39 with only 23% of voters rating him positively and 62% with a negative opinion.

There's still reason though to think Corwin could pull this race out. By a 41-39 margin voters in the district would like their new member of Congress to caucus with the Republicans rather than the Democrats in the House. Those planning to vote for Davis hold that sentiment by an even wider margin at 48-20. Davis' support has been plummeting and if that trend continues and conservatives who don't really like Corwin hold their nose and end up voting for her anyway she still has a chance to win a narrow victory.

“THe Siena poll group is another far left polling group and less accurate than these Dem clowns.”

And Sienna (released yesterday) showed it was a four-point race- within the margin of error.

WOW
Leftico , the Dem - Obama news website which peddles nothing but lies and spin for the Dem DC beltway ?

Leftico is the Internet media division of the Dem DC beltway elite.
You believe the pure lies push by Mike Allen, Johnny Martin and the entire staff who all do the bidding of Axelrod and the DNC ?
Consider your sources here ?

By the way, neither Leftico , PPP ,or Siena deal with Facts!
They are ALL Dem front groups and push LIES !
Why would a GOP insider tell their Dem party enemies at Leftico a single thing ??

Seems rather obvious you have a tea party candidate siphoning off votes and that is why the republican may lose.

Louisiana is the same way. If no candidate gets over 50% there is a run off between the top to.

I have two relatives in that district and they are saying no one is fooled by Davis.
Davis is a well known rich jerk.

I don't know who owns PPP, but a lot of people here said they were full of crap before the 2010 California elections, and they turned out to be one of the most accurate pollsters:

Oct 26th 2010 PPP poll:
Boxer over Fiorina, 52-43
Brown over Whitman 53-42

Actual results:
Barbara Boxer: 52.2%
Carly Fiorina: 42.2%

Edmund G. "Jerry" Brown: 53.8%
Meg Whitman: 40.9%

Beware the polls. Go vote, call your friends and remind them to vote. Speak out.

Why is this douchebag Jack Davis still in the race? With “tea party” candidates like him, who needs the Libertarians. GET OUT OF THE RACE, A**HOLE!

The Tea Party Patriots and Tea Party Express should announce a join lawsuit against Jack Davis today in Federal Court to underscore to voters that he is a Dem, NOT a tea party member.

Also, every poll I have read always puts in a caveat that states Corwin can still win and then gives a number of reasons that can happen. So....folks & voters in NY 26, do not believe any poll that puts an if against its results. They are bogus at the least and rigged. IMHO, Corwin now wins with 53% of the vote!!! Davis, the moron, is no longer a factor. Get to the polls Republicans, Conservatives, Independents, Tea Party folks and disgruntled Democrats and vote for Ms. Jane Corwin. She wins, the Democrats and more importantly, failed POTUS Obama loses. Do it!!!!

You can’t fix stupid. If the people in upstate NY are happy with the high unemployment their democrat leaders have saddled them with over the past decade, let them wallow on it for another.
