In truth, the ideas and images in mens minds are the invisible powers that constantly govern them. - John Locke, English philosopher, physician
The American evangelicals whose frenzied scriptural arithmetic points to the Second Coming of Christ 2,000 years after his birth are engaged in an activity which has been threatening the stability of the Christian Church since the second century; they are trying to align Gods calendar with mans. - Damian Thompson, author, The End of Time

MIDDLE EAST, INDIA, May 19, 2011 I bumped into Harold Camping when I came across his book 1994?
Since he put a question mark at the end of the title I didnt write him off completely because much of what he talks and writes about is certainly found in the Bible.
SNIP SNIP
In fact 1 Thess 5: 2 says, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
But Camping figures its okay to work out the year and the month and in fact goes on and tells us both a month, a day and an hour - he says Jesus' return will probably happen with a massive earthquake around 6pm on May 21, 2011 in which ever part of the world you are!
America is full of 'experts' in every field you can think of and at the age of 89, Camping cannot be denied his expertise in the Bible, which he claims he has researched for most of his life.
He is basically telling people they cannot take the plain meaning of what is said in the Bible to understand the scriptures, but with his God given key he can, while everyone else has misinterpreted when the end times will happen.

New Testament times we just ignore them, or make fun of them. Elijah made fun of the 400 prophets of BAAL on Mt. Carmel.............just before he beheaded them..................
I just looked at the time in Sydney, Australia, it is already TOMORROW (May 21, 2011) there as I write this. Has anything happened there yet?
New Testament times we just ignore them, or make fun of them. Elijah made fun of the 400 prophets of BAAL on Mt. Carmel.............just before he beheaded them..................
Remember, it’s at 6pm on the 21st.
Someone joked the other day that their boss told them the world doesn’t end until after his shift, so, yes, he does have to come to work.
By my calculations the Reverend Camping is off by a da
How will the world be ending? I did not read that part.
“Well, as I see it, unless Billy Graham, all the Catholic Priests, Protestant Ministers, and other notable religous leaders are taken up in the process, we are OK for now.”

Alas, many in “Christendom,” including some of the most prominent and revered, have never actually trusted in Christ alone for their eternal salvation.
They’ve never accepted His finished work on the cross (His substitutionary atonement in payment for their sins) as the only way of salvation.
Instead, many “Christians” are relying on their own works, or a mix of faith and works, to save them.
Whenever the Rapture actually does happen (and it will, sooner or later), plenty of church pews and pulpits will still be occupied.
John 6:28-29 Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”
Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Acts 10:43 Every one who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.
Acts 16:31 Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved...
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you are saved through faith and this is not from you, it is the gift of God. It is not from works, so no one may boast.
... And, ironically, many who don’t appear to be Christians, even some who no longer believe in Christ as Savior, will be raptured - simply because at some point in their lives, perhaps in childhood, perhaps at some dark point of despair, they did receive Christ as Savior. And even though they later rejected or ignored Him, they’re still saved.
John 10:28-30 (Jesus Christ said-) I give them eternal life and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, no one can snatch them out of my Fathers hand. I and the Father are one.
Fire. Then re-creation.
Camping’s prediction is about the Rapture.
I imagine it would be the Rapturer’s standard.
“Big Vally” reruns until the end of mankind...?!
What if Judgement day came, and no one was raptured? How will we know?
Good thing there’s not many groups of people that stone people anymore.
Why would it be alarming?
Camping himself has yet to do so.
If that’s the case they should club him to death if tomorrow comes and goes without the event happening.
Never mind time zones and international date lines. This is all at EST. (Eden Standard Time)
Because of what the prophet says, end of the world or whatnot, people would be scared or frightened into doing some stupid things.............
Good point.
What if they gave an apocalypse and nobody came?................
Oh, and Judgement Day and the rapture are two entirely different events, separated by 1000 years of earthly rule by Jesus Christ. The rapture occurs when Jesus is coming down from Heaven ready to set foot on the Mt. of Olives............
I guess we wouldn’t know it until all of a sudden...poof, earth destructs.
It would be convenient for those that support the theory. They can just say it happened, but there wasn’t anyone of significance, that actually disappeared.
