In an email response to The Washington Times, Mr. Thornton threatened to kill himself if his Social Security payments are taken away, and said the television episode showing him doing woodwork oversold his abilities.

“You wanna test how damn serious I am about leaving this world, screw with my check that pays for this apartment and food. Try it. See how serious I am. I don’t care,” the California man said. “I have no problem killing myself. Take away the last thing keeping me here, and see what happens. Next time you see me on the news, it will be me in a body bag.”

“You wanna test how damn serious I am...screw with my check that pays for this apartment and food...I don’t care,” the California man said. “I have no problem killing myself.

I consider myself to be a fairly compassionate man, able and ready to assist my fellow man if need be, with material things if necessary, with financial assistance if need be, with a prayer, with words of encouragement...but this just absolutely pisses me off.

Stinking liberals piss and moan about how we want to get rid of this type of welfare and here we have a perfect example of why the system is totally screwed up.

This POS does not want help, except the free ride he's getting at our expense.

He has no desire to improve his lot in life, to work his way back to a decent citizenship.

He simply wants to suck on the teat of the tax payer until such time as he dies.

I say good bye.

Take him off the "check", provide him with gainful employment, based on pay for performance, and if he kills himself, well, I will offer up a prayer for his soul, but I'll not be held hostage in my conscience if he does kill himself.

Despicable.

I don’t think there are very many people dressing up as adult babies to collect SSI checks.

But there are plenty of other malingers doing what they can to keep the money coming in.

This guy's the tip of the iceberg...

When Dems ask Americans to work until they're 95 to 'save Social Security' remember it's so 30 year olds like this man can collect a check for the next 50 years - and his girlfriend too...

“Adult baby” describes pretty much everyone on the dole. Never matured, no personal responsibility, think the world owes them a living. Bawl and scream when things don’t go their way.

Mr. Coburn also questions why Miss Dias, as a former nurse, collects SSI benefits, “since she is able to provide childcare” to Mr. Thornton.

Being this woman likes to play his mother, she should go to work and support him.

As an individual who remotely works in this industry, I can assure you that the "Invesigator General" actually investigates very few cases, and the ones that are actually investigated, the work is extremely shoddy.

The majority of those receiving SSI checks are not disabled per se--but merely unemployable for various reasons. SSI is particularly popular for ex-cons..The agency adjudicators see the $674 a month check a cost savings when compared to incarceration costs. More troubling, is that employers are less and less hiring these people because its much easier/safer to hire an illegal than to employ a man who is on parole for armed robbery ect.
