CAIRO, May 15 (UPI) -- Several hundred Egyptian Coptic Christians were attacked in Cairo late Saturday and early Sunday by gangs throwing rocks and fire bombs, witnesses said.
Police said at least 60 people were injured, two of whom were in critical condition, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The Copts were staging a sit-in outside a state television studio to protest mounting violence directed at them. A week ago, Muslim-Christian fighting killed 15 people.
In this weekend's violence, witness George Thabet told the Times he saw young men throw Molotov cocktails from a bridge into the crowd as others on the ground threw rocks at the sit-in.
The inter-religious conflict has escalated since President Hosni Mubarak was ousted in February by demonstrators calling for democratic reform. He was replaced by an interim military government, which promised Copts it would reopen about 50 churches closed under Mubarak's rule.

Took time out from cursing Israel to attacking their Christians.
Obama’s kind of folk.
Isn't Ironic Ironic?
What? They didn’t have co-exist bumper stickers on their cars?
This Islamic, Democracy movement isn’t for Jews and Christians, and the American left can get behind that.
Barry Hussein has harsh words for Christians who burn the koran, but can’t seem to bring himself to criticize “our muslim friends” who burn Christians... I wonder why that is?
Yeah-notice how the little MSM slug headline writer makes it read as if the Christians turned violent.
Uhhh . . . moronic ironic?
Now, if you don't behave, I'll be forced to break out my "RESPECT" bumpersticker.
He’s a muslim. Nothing he has said or done convinced anyone that he’s Christian or honorable.
He terrifies me.
I love the way the headline implies that the Christians turned violent.
Is there nothing too low for the Muslim-loving leftist media? Disgusting.
I-kill-you!! But I’m a nice guy when I want to be...
