Most of the public, 59 percent, say they will vote or consider voting for President Obama in 2012, despite 57 percent of people saying they disapprove of the way hes handled the economy, according to the latest POLITICO-George Washington University Battleground Poll.
Here are some highlights from the poll, published Monday:
Obama gets a 52 percent job approval rating, up 7 percent since the last poll, in October. 57 percent of people disapprove of Obama's handling of the economy; 42 percent approve. 59 percent say they will vote for him or consider voting for him in 2012; 38 percent say they definitely wont vote for him 75 percent of people approve of Obama's handling of terrorism, but 84 percent say the killing of Osama bin Laden will make no difference in how they vote in 2012.
The pollsters who directed the survey will take questions in POLITICOs Arena at 10 a.m.
Nobody believe them.
Cooked numbers? Somewhat probably, but I’m still scared of this. Are the people really this effing stupid?
1) Republicans will relentlessly attack any Conservative in the race. Palin, Bachmann, West, Cain -- they will be destroyed by the GOP.
2) The media will push Romney through the primaries, mostly because the guy is a total loser who cannot possibly win the general election.
3) Things will get worse over the next year and a half. Gas prices, foreign affairs, budget crisis, jobs -- you name it. And the media will explain that the Republican-controlled House is the root of the problem.
So if 42 percent approve of 0bama’s economic performance and 59 percent say they may or will vote for him can we conclude that (59-42) 17% of people approve of a bad economy?
Sounds like an internally consistent MSM poll to me with lots of smart people participating.
Where is that video (or the name of it) that people are asked random BASIC questions and when asked who had their opponents taken off of the ballot to launch their senate career and people were shocked to hear the answer was Obama?
A solid analysis, and I think you’re 100% on the money; Obama’s a two-termer, that’s my gut feeling, and has been since 2008.
I HATE to say this but you may be correct. It is apparent in the news right now. Even some of the GOP are bashing and blaming Ryan’s plan. The democrats are painting the dumbassed pubs as loving the rich all a while Obama is in bed with the rich fat cats.
I am saddened to even think people could be this stupid.
Obama’s internal poll numbers suck we all know this but the media will carry him with Alinsky tactics. Will it work again? It is not logical but it could.
I don’t believe these”Polls”!They “Front-Load”them with questions designed to produce the result The LIBS want!!
I am not clicking through to Polutico to give them traffic, so I am going to rely on what I see here in FR.
The line above is the money quote of the article. They are lumping in 'will vote' and 'will consider voting' for Obama. Those are two very different things. Many who voted for him last time will consider voting again for him, but will also look at the other candidate and the environment at the time. Understanding how that 59% breaks down is key with this poll.
Will Obama/Soro’s utopia of NWO succeed in crashing the dollar, leaving the people with no other choice but to accept it?
Exactly. You nailed there Alinsky tactics. Will it work?
I absolutely agree with both of you that as things stand now, Hussein will be reelected. Doesn’t this whole media blitz about GOP candidates sound surreal? It’s like the choices are between brother Darryl and his other brother Darryl.
My wallet, which is usually open for GOP candidates in a Presidential, will be closed this year. I WILL work on and contribute to local races in my home state of Wisconsin, however. At least, there is hope for us to win a few more seats in our already GOP legislature...and then there is our man, Scott Walker, to continue to cheer on.
I see more of a global crash coming, to be honest. And under those dire circumstances, it comes down to that old adage for most people......”Better the devil you know, than the one you don’t”.
Unfortunately, yes, they are. I see it a lot in people I talk to. I ask them what they think about Obama and the majority say something to the effect that they "like" him. I ask them what he has done that they like, and I get a blank stare, or some incoherent mumbling. I ask them what is it about Obama personally that they "like", and I get a blank stare. Only one or two have ever said anything else, such as they think he is "smart". I ask those people how they know he is "smart", for example, what were his grades in college. Of course, they say they don't know, and for good reason, no one does. They say he "gives good speeches". Well, that's just reading words off of a script placed in front of his face, so I ask them how that makes Obama "smart". They have no answer.
It's a total cult of personality with these people. But, sadly for us, that's the toughest thing to beat, because to attack it you appear to be attacking the person, and for anyone other than liberals, that is a dangerous strategy, because you'll be called "mean-spirited", or "vicious", whereas liberals will never be called that, even though they are, more so than conservatives. So between the personality cultists and those getting free money from Obama's "stash" (which is really our money), it's going to be a tough, uphill fight to beat him.
Screw Newt and Romney. Cain is like a shiney object to leave us some hope.
I say we take someone like Cain/West/Palin/Bachmann and roll with them in the teas party screw the GOP. Look at the amount of money Paul earned in one day.
We must all unite; people are starved for a Paul like conservative person because deep down they are afraid Bachmann,Palin,West,Cain will conform or controlled; to any possibility of a win.
The tea party will prevail if we organize and stop infighting and get behind one person and raise the same money Paul did in one night. It is apparent by this very forum there is a split and too much infighting but no one will realize it until it is too late.
Our only hope is after the usual infighting of primaries people all rally around one but my fear is that that one; will be Romney or Daniels. So if we don't organize an alternative now it will be too late.
Puh-leeze.
