TRUMP'S "DEAN SCREAM": The Donald Loses His Cool On CNBC (This is the end of his candidacy)
Business Insider ^ | 05/13/2011 | Gregory White

Posted on 05/13/2011 8:59:54 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Donald Trump was just on CNBC responding to allegations over his property dealings made by the New York Times. He blasted the paper for its report, and its reporter for refusing to appear on TV to defend his claims.

The article reports that more than 300 people are suing Trump after he removed his name from properties they purchased. Those involved in the lawsuit allege there was no disclaimer that Trump was not the developer of the properties, but rather just "rented his name" to the actual developers.

Trump ended up going on a multi-minute rant in which he insulted CNBC anchor Simon Hobbs and slammed the New York Times.

Watch the video here. It may be remembered as Trump's "Dean Scream," the on-air event that ended Howard Dean's presidential campaign in 2004.

0:10 Trump says Mr. Barber (the New York Times reporter) "didn't have the guts to go on" CNBC.

0:55 Mark Haines, CNBC, points out where the article says "my latest development" is mentioned in promotional materials. Trump rebuffs, saying the document people signed points out that he licensed his name, not that he developed the properties.

3:10 Trump says, "Hello Simon, whoever you are Simon. Simon, the market collapsed, you may not have heard about that. So thousands of buildings all over the United States had difficulties, so you probably heard about that somewhere along the line. That's what happened Simon."

4:30 Trump says he did investors "a favor."

LOL, so he called out the NY SLIMES and some bozo who is looking to recoup what he thought was a “sure thing”

Gee, where have I seen this before. Whats’ wrong with calling a spade a spade? If the Slimes lied ( I totally believe it) then why shouldn’t they be called on it.

It’s all about the whiners and the “deep pockets” of Trump and others like him.

Never considered him to be a serious candidate but I do hope he keeps trashing the democrats and pushing hard to support real conservatives. We still need someone who isn’t afraid to shove it back up the democrat’s arses.

FUBO & FAD

And it’s a bad thing to insult the NYTimes and their reporter ???

I listened to it...didn’t seem so bad to me, and I’m no fan of Trump. In fact, getting tough with the press, like Trump and Christie do is what it’s going to take to win the next election.

He was never a serious candidate and never would have been able to stand up to the fact he has heaped a lot of money on Democrats in past elections and made many derogatory statements about republicans (”GWB is the worst president ever”)

This in and of itself if nothing nut he never had a chance to be president nor do I think he was ever serious. He is one of the greatest self promoters ever.

What NONSENSE! I listened to the entire thing. Trump was rational and thoughtful throughout, and this was in the face of being questioned by imbeciles.

Wow, I listened to that video and I didn't hear anything close to a “Dean moment”. Sounds to me like the WH sent out its thugs to try and create one, but they did not succeed.

Whatever they think they have over the Donald is nothing compared to what he has over the liberals.

HOw can they compare this to the Dean Screamz? I don’t want Trump for president but the liberals are really doing their best to ‘destroy’ him. Big Surprise.

What do you mean ‘THE END of his candidacy”? LOL

He just explained (in an arrogant manner) that the investors on the Trump properties got “lucky” and he did them a “favor” as the market collapsed and that investors “supposedlY’ LOST a minimal amount on their investment. He’s a slimy weasel as a human being BUT he was quite right that if you invest, you better read the fine print and know exactly who you are dealing with and what you are getting yourself into.

Any assertion that this was some kind of Howard Dean moment for Trump is just plain stupid.

A major northeastern real estate speculator and developer not having hundreds of people after him is not much of one.

That said I would like to hear his story on how he leveraged an Atlantic City Casino property into bankruptcy.

I guess I would not vote for him in the primaries. But giving money to Democrats? Any good business man does that to protect his businesses.

Quite frankly, I would like to see a president that will NOT be pushed around. Unlike the Oblowme who is bowing to every 3rd world punk and giving them a hand mob to boot.

Trump is for Trump.

That said, he has balls unlike the current GOP leadership.

This was no Dean moment.

Renting out your name. Presidential? Not hardly.

And anyone out there still thinking he is serious about a candidacy rather than just using this in a tawdry attempt to up his name recognition - so he can whore out his name at a higher price?

Congrats to knee-jerk SeekandFind freeper for his knee-jerk reaction that this thread is anti-Trump.

As an investor, he probably has no grasp on the intricacies of the properties investment market. Trump explained it explicitly that you should know what you are getting into when you invest in stock, properties etc. Nothing wrong with that. This is business management 101 old-school.

Some of us told you Freepers that these types of stories would happen based on our own real estate experience. I’m no Trump hater, but his skeletons are too many to be able to run a campaign.

Everyone who lives in the New York area knows that this guy is a blowhard who is only successful at marketing himself. He will never run for President, because he would have to reveal his financials - which he can’t ever let happen.

Once it’s revealed that he’s worth about 10% of what he claims, his name is worth nothing. Even this piece indicates that he is selling his *name* - just as he is on “Celebrity Apprentice.”

Trump will be in jail in a cell next to Bernie Madoff before he ever occupies the Oval Office.
