Barnicle: Newt 'A Delusional Loser'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 05/12/2011 5:22:05 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Mike Barnicle has greeted Newt Gingrich's announcement of his presidential candidacy with a sneer, calling the former Speaker of the House "a delusional loser." The former Kennedy-clan retainer and Boston Globe columnist seasoned his attack with some snobbery, disparaging Gingrich's educational background.

Barnicle spewed his bile on today's Morning Joe.

In this crowded GOP-field it’s anybody’s game. Somebody will catchfire & the field will quickly get whittled down. I’m not a Newt fan but Barnicle is way too dismissive here.

Take him ice fishing.... In July.

People like this need to learn there are penalties for what they do.

On Monday, AP ran an article about Gingrich's announcement. Notice the first, short, one-sentence paragraph [emphasis added by me]:

The MSM and Team Obama are salivating at the thought of Gingrich winning the GOP nomination. They will skewer him. And he will probably give them as big a victory as McCain gave them in the Electoral vote.

At least Newt doesn’t wear canary yellow polo shirts on TV. Barnicle is like your crazy old uncle. To pretend to listen to him but don’t really.

Thanks for explaining that, I thought “drunken plagiarizer” had something to do with Joe Biden.

Hell, even Trump would whoop Obama’s butt

If Trump, who has a history of supporting mostly Democrats and Democrat positions, were really running, why would he NOT challenge Obama in the Democrat primaries?

Even Trump sees a rather weak field of contenders on the Republican side.

McCain, the Dem wannabe, got the nomination in 2008.
Trump, the Dem supporter, runs as a Republican in 2012.

What does it say about the GOP that Dems/Dem-wannabes can run as Republicans -- and get more results that live-long Pubbies?

“Barnicle got fired from the Globe for fabricating stories”

Of course, in progressive circles, fabricating stories is an honored and well-practiced skill. Didn’t you hear the whoppers the president told about how he wouldn’t raise taxes “one dime” on people earning less than $200K(single) or $250K(married) a year and how his health plan wouldn’t increase the deficit?

And as we know from Bill Clinton’s experience, even lying before a federal grand jury is acceptable behavior so long as it’s in service of a partisan objective.

As for plagiarism, VP Biden’s political career doesn’t seem to have suffered from his several bouts of plagiarizing activities.

In short “character” is largely irrelevant when it comes to “winning” in progressive circles. Indeed, as a fabricator AND plagiarist, Barnicle probably is view as “bi-winning” among his liberal pals.

Forget Trump or anyone else for the matter.
If it comes to voting for Obama or “fill in the blank” in 2012...
FITB is gonna win in a landslide.
Why do you think Obama is desperately trying to get every nonwhite hating on whitey right now?
His only prayer is to get illegals naturalized and registered to vote (the guy really thinks Latinos hate gringos more than they love America) and to make sure blacks stay on the white liberal Democrat plantation.

And I thought he was referring to Ted Kennedy. But maybe that was cheater rather than plagiarizer. No difference.

If you signed up for his “Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less” campaign from 2008, that may be where you dropped into the list. I’m pretty sure that’s how I got on his list.

I’m probably going to send him an email (as if he’ll really read it), and tell him that I can’t support him. His support for Dee Dee Scozzafava was the final nail in the coffin. It won’t make a bit of difference but I’ll feel better.

Barnacle (not a typo) is smarter than an 11 year old.

I saw him stump 11 year old Blake Kernen during a simulcast on CNBC this morning with his question on school vouchers.

Completely off the subject being discussed during the interview, but he had a “gotcha” question.

Newt isn’t only a loser as a GOP contender, but he has lost much of what once made him such a potent and formidable leader in congress - his vision for a stronger America. Ever since he resigned his Congressional leadership position after the 1998 elections, he hasn’t been a strong an advocate for the conservative agenda, but he's been playing the pundit game, as well as being friendly with the opposition when it comes to environmental policies, for example.

His views are now mercurial, shifting to the changing political fortunes of the moment. I doubt conservatives would want to back him for president.

Isn’t Barnacle calling Newt “a delusional loser” a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black?

You got that right. Anyone interested can read his Wikipedia bio, especially the section titled, "Boston Globe Controversy."
