WASHINGTON A House panel approved a defense bill early Thursday that would delay President Barack Obama's new policy allowing gays to serve openly in the military and limit the commander in chief's authority on slashing the nation's nuclear arsenal.
By a vote of 60-1, the House Armed Services Committee approved the broad, $553 billion defense blueprint that would provide a 1.6 percent increase in military pay, fund an array of aircraft, ships and submarines, slightly increase health care fees for working-age retirees and meet the Pentagon's request for an additional $118 billion to fight wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The lone no vote was Rep. John Garamendi, D-Calif.

Wow...
60 - 1
Lots of interesting info in the article.
(( ping ))
The 1 was John Garamendi, a career politician in California and a former Clinton lackey. He’s a turd.
Does this carry any weight, though?
This was just a committee. The full House will get it in a week or two. From there who knows.
And a gay boy.
What to do.........
With a Politically Correct, but TERRIBLE idea.
What to do........
What to do............
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

An actual repeal of DADT would have been to go back to the pre-Clinton policy, where recruits were asked if they were gay, and an affirmative answer disqualified them from joining the military.
DADT was not repealed.
It was instituted as a “camel’s nose in the tent” method of opening the military to gays. This latest move is the next step in the process, letting the camel in.
We should not fall for the manipulation of language here. The left has chosen this language to promote the belief that the military was fully open to gays until Clinton came along and imposed this restriction, but that is nowhere near the truth.
More accurate terminology would be something like “the expansion of DADT.”
Of course they're going to largely agree, if they don't they'll be asked to resign as was Lt. Gen. Mixon.
Retired general warns of rush to end dont ask
excerpt:
While still serving as the three-star general commanding all Army forces in the Pacific theater last year, Gen. Mixon wrote to the newspaper Stars and Stripes urging those who opposed the repeal to speak out through their chain of command and write their members of Congress.
Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates publicly rebuked him, and Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, suggested that he resign.
Thanks for the ping, Lancey, there's other interesting items also.
The part of this that I really like is the cutting of authority for Obama to slash our nuclear arsenal. If he hasn't gotten around to it by now, his window of opportunity will be closed.
The Marine Corps Commandant expressed his reservations about repealing DADT during congressional hearings. But you are right about the political pressure - - and if I recall, the first casualty was Peter Pace, who was replaced by (the likely homosexual) political hack Mike Mullen. It will not surprise me if all the chiefs "agree" that what our military really needs right now is a few battalions worth of Bradley Mannings.
Pray for America.
Correct, Gen. Amos spoke out (God bless him) that he had reservations and I believe he said as much as he could at the time without crossing the line whereas Mixon crossed it. Also correct about Gen. Pace and this flake Mullen wouldn’t make a pimple on Pace’s you know what.
I’d dearly love to see Manning executed for his traitorous espionage but it won’t happen.
Had not heard about that, jaz. Thanks.
No, it won't. He is in a "protected class" (homosexuals).

Now they need to defund the repeal of DADT. Every last penny. And any delaying tactics, monkey wrenches, whatever they can find to hand.
Bingo! Your post, ma'am, gets directly at the truth of the matter. Why we continue to let the nihilists lead us around by the nose in the language we use is beyond me.
