The former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter has been convicted of unlawful contact with a minor for exchanging explicit messages in an online chat room with someone he believed to be a 15-year-old girl.

Ritter, 49, exchanged messages with a detective posing as an underage girl and masturbated, even after the undercover officer stressed during the chat that he was a minor, Pennsylvania prosecutors said.

A jury found Ritter guilty of a total of six counts including indecent exposure and criminal attempt to corrupt a minor.

He was easy blackmail bait.

That’s how covert control was gained over him in the first place, years ago.

It’s just come to official and public attention now.

You know what? I bet a hundred dollars you’re right. I never thought of that, but after you posted that, I just have to think there is something to it.

Yep.

Convicted but not sentenced. A couple of phone calls from influential A-Holes in Washington and this scum-bag could end up with just a ankle monitor.

I’m going to guess that Saddam was able to supply him with all the young girls he wanted on his inspection visits to Iraq.

One of Saadam's son's liked to rape pre teen girls. He invited girl's classes for tours of his palace and made the ones he liked stay behind when the others left and then raped them as much as he pleased and sent them packing. No consequences at all until he finally "got his".

This creep was arrested in 2001 and convicted in 2011.

Why did it take 10 years to prosecute?

This is at least his third time getting caught doing this.

Is he slow on the uptake, or what?

“Didn’t this Dirt Bag have similar charges BEFORE he became the RATS expert Witness against Bush Policies, some things never change. “

One of the reasons I support the death penalty for child rapists. I don’t believe they ever reform, although I suppose I must believe it is possible.

Why should we expect Ritter to be any different than anyone else connected to the UN?

With as little attention as his conviction has been given by the American media that's certainly a possibility. He was convicted 1 month ago. Have you heard of his conviction before today? I haven't and I consume news from a variety of sources all day every day.

If I was on the jury I would not have convicted him since the person that he was chatting with was not a minor. I also would not have convicted him on a more fundamental basis, that what he did amounts to a thought crime and I can see no reason why any government has the authority to criminalize thoughts (it should also be noted that in this case we’re not talking about a prepubescent child but actually what was considered a young woman at one time and in some States can still get married).

This whole protect the children from perverts thing has swung way too far to one side and should be rethought. There needs to be a redefinition of what a minor is in my opinion for the purposes of criminalizing these types of things. The punishment is way out of line for the “crime”. We should be spending our resources on the people that are doing the real damage to children like actual child molesters not some 18 year old kid that got tagged with statutory rape for doing his 15 year old girl friend.

I would draw the line at puberty (~13) since once past that there are a lot of women that you just can’t tell (for example Tracy Lords started her porn career at 14 and millions of men and women couldn’t tell that she was 14) and even if you could these women know what they are doing most of the time, especially when we are talking about an internet chat where there can be no physical intimidation and the “minor” can walk away anytime they like. We have way too many laws that criminalize way to many things, we need less government not more nanny state garbage.

It’s not about ‘thought’ it’s about intent. His intentions were to break the law. If you don’t think we should prosecute someone for criminal intent then to be consistent you don’t think we should prosecute terrorists who intend to kill simply because they were caught before they did.

Ritter is fully qualified to be called an EX-Marine. He’s a shitbird that is a disgrace to the Corps. Right along side of Jack Murtha and James Carville.

Piss on all of them.
