The woman who tore up a Florida Burger King during spring break today pleaded no contest to an assortment of criminal counts and was sentenced to 45 days in jail. A judge also banned Nekiva Hardy, the 30-year-old “BK Brawler,” from Burger Kings in Bay County, where her March 19 outburst was videotaped by a fellow patron.

She was also placed on probation, ordered to do "community service," and fined nearly $5K.

She's also got to complete a court-ordered anger management course.

Yet another installment in the continuing story of Nekiva Hardy, the hearty-partying Alabama piece-of-work who "don't play no games."

She's been in the hoosegow for about fourty days, so the judge is springing her at the end of this week. I'm sure her whole hood is waiting for her back in Montgomery. Yellow ribbons on every magnolia, one would assume.

This may be the end of a chapter, but something tells me it's not the end of the story.

There may be hope for her. I had a friend who, back in high school, cracked the drive through window of a McDonalds with his fist when he got into an argument over his order. He got arrested and it was in the paper. And today he has a family and a job and still gets embarrassed when anyone mentions the incident (which we do from time to time).

45 days for an “assortment of charges”? One would assume some of those charges are for assault. That’s the same as what one would receive for a simple misdemeanor possession of some pot. She’s obviously violent and a threat. A year would have been more like it.

There is always hope, we are told by God, but it is hard to see hope in the video of this woman and her associates trashing that BK in such a disgraceful, evil manner.

How are they going to enforce that? Are they going to have to train all the BK employees in the county on how to recognize her?
