The tea partiers take legitimate credit for much of the upheaval in the 2008 congressional election, when Nancy Pelosi was tossed from her position as House Speaker and the Republicans were handed a new majority there with enough party members to control the vote results without any help from Democrats.
But things have deteriorated a little bit since then, and activists joined today in a news conference to issue a warning to the GOP members they describe as "RINOs," for Republicans in Name Only, to start responding to what voters want, or else.
"We're deeply disappointed. Instead of a fighter for U.S. taxpayers, [GOP House Speaker John] Boehner has been a surrenderist, if that's a word," said William Temple, the chairman of the The Tea Party Founding Fathers' Freedom Jamboree and National Straw Poll Convention, scheduled Sept. 28 to Oct. 2 in Kansas City.
"He waves the white flag before the battle's even joined," he said.

I don’t have time to read every news story on this, but didn’t Boehner just “throw down the gauntlet” on the debt ceiling, like TPer’s wanted? Didn’t he just call for trillions in cuts? What am I missing?
All who are outraged by the growing debt and insane government spending must make their voices heard in Washington DC.
Burn up the phone lines.
Leep them busy.
Send emails, telegrams and letters.
Boehner always “calls for” but doesn’t fight to the end. Yes, Boehner supporters are missing something (made of brass).
There is no more time, there is no more wiggle room, we have no more patience and NO ONE'S hide is sacred.
The music stopped, the dream is over and the spell is broken.! No more 'creative politics' will be tolerated. DO what you were sent to do or expect to be voted OUT!
So put the two things together. "I'm going to be tough and you'd better bring me serious cuts or else! Of course, it would be irresponsible to not raise the limit so of course we'll do it in the end." Now you're Obama, which part of that do you pay attention to?
Yes, he did that, but he did something similar in the recent budget battle and then backed up as soon a it got hot in the kitchen. He has no nads for a fight.
We can all agree with the Tea Party assessment that arrogance and Elitism is alive and well in DC amongst the GOP. The message sent last November definitely was not heard as evidenced by Boehner et al. and their actions. There is definitely a need for spine, guts, and patriotism.
We The People are being ignored but once again. November 2012 is fast approaching; now is the time we work together to ensure that we correct the mistakes sent to DC last November.
To bad WND has the year of the Tea Party influenced election wrong.
2008?
What Boehner needs to understand is, if you are going to vote like a Bolshecrat we don’t need you.
“Boehner has been a surrenderist, if that’s a word...”
Try “quisling”.
Trillions in cuts while STILL raising the debt limit is what I heard. It should be trillions cut and the debt limit is NOT raised.
He also called for 100 billion dollars in spending cuts a while back. You know, the cuts that came to 300 something million? What Boehner says, and what Boehner does [except crying], are two different things. When his actions meet his words, I’ll take another look at him. Right now, he’s just a politician of the JANUS stripe.
“What Boehner needs to understand is, if you are going to vote like a Bolshecrat we dont need you.”
I like that! The Bolshecrat and Menshican parties! Two lefts do indeed make a wrong.
This is why the Tea Party isn't going anywhere. After a lot of tough talk this "leader" says his opposes more debt, period. Except if he gets a few goodies and some worthless promises from the Republicrat/Dumbocans. No wonder the country is going down the tubes.
When I call, I’m going to mention that Speaker of the House Tom Foley was quite shocked to be defeated in ‘94 and the ever concerned Tom Daschle was also shocked to find the Senate Majority Leader could be tossed in ‘04.
I’m going to be polite and say that we usually like what Speaker Boehner starts out saying, but then he always caves. If he caves on the debt ceiling, it’s pretty much a certainty that he’ll be primaried in ‘12.
After the 2010 huge landslide in the house, republicans allowed the lame duck democrats to have the most productive lame duck session in history.
They made Boehner and the republicans look like the political weaklings they really are.
