ATLANTA (AP) --- Newt Gingrich, the House speaker who led a national GOP resurgence in the 1990s before facing ethics questions and resigning, is running for president.
Gingrich's announcement, made on social networking websites Monday, came after months of public flirting with a bid. He enters a slow-to-form GOP presidential field that has left some Republicans craving more options as they search for a nominee strong enough to credibly challenge President Barack Obama.
The former Georgia congressman, well-known to most Republicans, brings to the race a years-in-the-making political machine with ties to early nominating states as well as a network of supporters and donors. But his personal baggage --- he's acknowledged marital infidelity and has had two divorces --- could hinder his chances of winning the party's presidential nomination more than a decade after leaving the House.
Still, he spoke confidently of wide support.

Just keep feeding him the weed and let him sing.
Yes, I have not forgotten that debacle. And I can’t stand his latest wife.
Very well said!
Callista is a bimbo. Can’t stand her.
Just ICK!!
Dont worry you wont have to cast that painful vote. Newt has only a slightly higher chance at winning the nomination than I do.
One difference though....I would vote for you in a quick minute with zero hesitation. It would be WONDERFUL if a FREEPER FRiend ran. Man we would have absolutely no worries. I need this dream to become reality.....lol.
You sound like a gambling man. So what kind of odds are you giving for a cash bet?
Newt missed his chance to run and win when he didn’t do it in 96, 2000 and 2008. Plus he tucked tail and fled the congress in 98 instead of defending himself and the GOP. All signs of his unwillingness to stand up and fight. He has no chance of winning.
She hasn’t had time to run for anything. She’s been busy helping others campaign, trying to help us save our country by jumping in Obama’s face and correcting him which no other republican has to the balls to do, promoting her state, helping earthquake and tornado victims & keeping up w/her obligations w/Fox News.... I would rather have someone running for President that has been busy doing all those things than busy running for political office. She’s been in political office for the last 20 years....
I say let him run, and if no one better jumps in, keep him alive in the primaries for this reason:
Whatever his baggage is, he will force the issues that we care about to be disussed. In other words, he has the ability to drive the debate. Just having him out there doing that may convince another, better candidate to jump in and carry the momentum to 1600 Pennsylvania...
Just my opinion, ya’ll.........
Who Knew.. Newt Who?
"Miss Me Yet?"
Of course I'm kidding. Just some satire on our RINO problems.
I would unify the country as soon as I opened my mouth - against me.
If nominated, he would lose.
Anyone stupid enough to fall for the AGW hoax is too stupid to be dog catcher.
[But his personal baggage -— he’s acknowledged marital infidelity and has had two divorces -— ]
Baggage? He’s got more baggage than Samsonite!
I always wanted to say that.
That makes sense? Whom do you want to run!
...and Pizza Hut is announcing its all-new “Barbequed Sardine, Bluecheese, and Mustard” deep dish pizza.
I’m of the thinking that the worst, call it what you want, Republican, RINO, Moderate Republican what have you, is better than Obama. I’ll vote for whomever receives the nomination, period. Its about the future of the country. ANYONE is better than what we have now. The WORST Republican is better than what we have now. I’ll put all personal beliefs aside to vote for the nominee. If I did it for McCain, I can do it again. I’ve always thought the only way we lose 2012 is if we run the wrong candidate. I believe the media had a great deal to do with McCain getting the nomination. While watching the national convention, I knew then we had lost it when McCain started going “fight with me...fight with me.....”. It was sad quite frankly. He made Dole look Reaganesque. Newt won’t get the nomination and neither will Romney. There is a dark horse out there who will lead us to victory in my opinion. IF we can get him nominated.
