I say let him run, and if no one better jumps in, keep him alive in the primaries for this reason:

Whatever his baggage is, he will force the issues that we care about to be disussed. In other words, he has the ability to drive the debate. Just having him out there doing that may convince another, better candidate to jump in and carry the momentum to 1600 Pennsylvania...

Just my opinion, ya’ll.........

Decent post.

I said way back, let him run, if he’s determined to do so, while most of us FReepers were screaming their loud “NOs!!!”

At least the man can think and he can talk and he can speak without a teleprompter and he can put two or more sentences together. He has the potential to be the best at debating the opposition, but even on the GOP side he will enhance the debates.

But, they scream, he did this and he said that and how terrible or stupid of him and no way he gets my vote, yada yada.

My answer to that is, by running he is putting himself out there to be forced to publicly explain these things that people hold grudges against him for doing. That is a good thing. Much better than hoping he silently slinks away out of sight and mind until he dies. He needs to explain. To defend, or to admit error or whatever. I’m speaking of his political “sins” not his personal ones.

As for these declarations that they will never, ever, vote for him under any circumstances, it would be wiser to hold that fire.

What if the alternative was Romney or Mitch Daniels. What if Sarah doesn’t run. Oh, I hope she does, but what if she doesn’t.

I’m just sayin’...

I watched him on Friday night give a speech to Georgia Republicans. CSPAN carried it live so they ought to have it available for viewing, unless they save back those things for “Road to the White House”. Is he the perfect candidate? A resounding no! But watch that if you can and you will see a man with a plan (for governing as well as running), a base of support, and the ability to articulate and in debate, to squash Obama like a bug.

If by some quirk of fate, we are left with nothing but what he offers in going against Obama, some will be wondering why they so thoroughly trashed it.
