White House rejects federal disaster status for Texas wildfires...
Via Drudge ^ | Wednesday, May 4, 2011 | NBC

Posted on 05/04/2011 8:59:50 AM PDT by penelopesire

"Late Tuesday, Gov. Rick Perry criticized the White House after learning that his April 16 request for a federal major disaster declaration and additional help had been rejected. Wildfires since November have blackened at least 2.2 million acres and damaged or destroyed more than 400 homes across the state, the governor said.

The federal government has already provided Texas with grants for response activities, FEMA spokeswoman Rachel Racusen told The Associated Press in a statement."

“They are going to flood millions of acres of farmland up and down the Mississippi River in the next few weeks.”

And then it’ll be wetland habitat, subject to EPA oversight. God, it’s pathetic and transparent.

Hope I am the first to say it “ Obama Hates White People”, Oh and hispanics.

****************************

Based on his determined opposition to the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, it is reasonable to infer that Obama hates people - period. A fairly mundane character defect of leftist ideologues.

“Obama’s thugs are too busy blowing up levees along the Mississippi River right now to be bothered with lizards. Mark my word...this flood that is developing all along the Ms. River is an opportunity to the enviro-nazi’s. They are going to flood millions of acres of farmland up and down the Mississippi River in the next few weeks. They have been wanting to do it for years and now the crisis cannot be wasted so to speak.”

And we have a few of our own defending this crap right here on FR...

No surprise, but I bet if it was California then no problem.

This news needs to be spread locally in the state. The only places I have seen it posted so far is here, and on Drudge.

(It's still early though)

Bingo!

The only silver lining in this(if they will leave it alone) is that the flood will help replenish the gulf around New Orleans and help wash any residual oil toxins out to sea or buried under tons of silt. Unfortunately, I fully expect them to try and create wetlands in prime farmland all the way down the Mississippi River. Most of the water will likely never even reach NO. They will confiscate private land in Mississippi and Louisiana from the farmers.

Mark My Word!

Just as I was typing my last post, the ABC radio news broke with...’Officials considering blowing up more levees along the Mississippi River’....

God help us! I can understand it if a metropolitan area is threatened, but Cairo Illinois is a virtual sand bar between the Ms. and the Ohio rivers. It’s a hellhole full of unemployed people with no prospects of jobs because there are none there. It should have been moved years ago. Now they flood over 150,000 acres of prime farmland that helps to feed millions to save a couple hundred dilapidated homes and people who have been trapped in poverty there for decades.

Go figure....

Isn't the breached (blasted) levees being done to lessen the compression on the lower river? I know it's very bad here in Memphis. They are evacuating Mud Island and shipping cannot push barges upriver due to the velocity of flood water.

I really don't know enough about it to form a responsible comment on the action.

" The only places I have seen it posted so far is here, and on Drudge."

It was all over the radio news this morning here in San Antonio.

I am reminded of the ice storm in 2009 during which people were suffering in the cold and dark, Obama had a party: http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/ice-storms-strike-the-heartland-wheres-obama/

From what I have read(and it’s extensive because we own some farmland on both sides of the river in lower Ms. and La.) is that they do not expect the Missouri manmade breech to ease flooding down river. This is the set-up to blow more levees as the river makes it’s way down the chute.

I was really shocked when Obama quickly declared Alabama a disaster area. It’s a deep red state but someone must have showed him pictures of all of the black folks that were affected.

I know there is a refinery here in Memphis which is shut down and will stay that way until flooding eases. Restarting that refinery may be effected by flooding damage as well.

Doesn’t Texas usually reject the idea of federal aid? Perry has mentioned the idea of secession. Perhaps this is time to show the rest of the country how they take care of problems, Republic of Texas style!

Imagine how strong Perry would look if he took the approach that Texas doesn’t NEED FEMA money. Do it the strong, independent way. Show the rest of the states how it’s done.

With Alabama on the plate, the feds are probably overstretched as it is.

I’m actually surprised Perry even bothered to ask...You knew what the answer was going to be...

Perry wold have been MORE effective by just coming out and saying that he’d been asked to ask the Feds for help...But tell the people publically that you know what the answer will be if he did...

So why bother???

I worry about the nuke plant by the river south of Vicksburg. I hope they are fortifying it from flood waters. This whole thing is sounding more and more epic everyday. They have revised the expected crests numbers up each day and the new crest numbers for Vicksburg and Natchez sound ominious. Both numbers will surpass the 1927 Great Flood numbers although we have much better levee structures in place now...it isn’t going to do much good if the federal government goes around blowing them up.
