President George W. Bush declined an invitation from the White House to join President Obama in a visit to Ground Zero Thursday.
"President Bush will not be in attendance on Thursday. He appreciated the invite, but has chosen in his post-presidency to remain largely out of the spotlight. He continues to celebrate with all Americans this important victory in the war on terror," according to a statement released by Bush spokesman David Sherzer late Tuesday.

What a class act Geo W is. So very happy he decided to not attend. I am sure that Obama would have, in his sneaky way, treated him badly knowing that Geo W would not say a word in his own defense.
Why should President Bush attend? To make himself a pinata for Obama?
Did he invite Guiliani??
....families were selected.
Dumbo NEEDS the adulation and worship.
Meanwhile, water boy,Holder prosecutes CIA operatives.
I heard he did.
The next reporter tells me "By coincidence, the kill occurred exactly eight years after Bush declared "Mission Accomplished".
No one fought harder to keep us safe than GW Bush and John Ashcroft. God Bless them and their families.
This was an Obama campaign tactic. It’s the only thing he does...campaign.
As for the decision to get Usama....I agree with the ex-seal caller who told Rush that he thinks Obama was forced to make the call.....because of the possibility it would be leaked that he had the chance and didn’t take it....he would never get reelected.
Couric fails at Logic 101.
obama could nver have gotten the chance to get him without 2 things obama strongly opposed put into place by Bush:
1) Guantanamo
2) Waterboarding
People like Couric are either woefully ignorant, or beneath contempt. I believe the latter.
Good for President Bush! He knows I-Bama was only going to use him s a prop. I’m sure he detests what I-Bama has done to this country.
Also, add the death of Bin Laden to the list of "quick distractions" to take attention away from subjects that matter.
1.) 5 dollar gas
2.) 20+% Unemployment
3.) Hyperinflation, Recession, Economic Stagnation, etc.
4.) Unconstitutionally Qualified to hold office
5.) Destruction of the Housing Market
Etc...
A campaign commercial using 9/11 victims’ families as props when the President couldn’t visit the WTC grounds since his last campaign visit in ‘08? Thank God Bush is not attending; it’s disgraceful and unpresidential. I see no reason to go to NY now that UBL is dead.
0bama’s trying to drape himself in 9/11 robes. All hail the conquering hero! We see through it. GWB sees through it.
So does a longtime NYer named Giuliani, but I suspect he’ll go anyway. He’s sorta the face of 9/11 and doesn’t want that rubbing off on someone else.
What a gracious man if he were allowed to speak he would overshadow Obama in that crowd. Obama would be humiliated “big time.”
I honestly don’t think that GWB wants to appear to be rejoicing at killing anybody — even the world’s foremost terrorist.
As to a joint appearance with Obama? Well he’s human. I know that I wouldn’t want to appear at Obama’s “campaign rally” if I were GWB. Not after the way he’s treated me for the last 2 years.
When’s Zero going to suggest that one of the buildings, i.e. a Monument to Me, be named in his own honor? What a putz.
Your list (including etc.) is what will be his downfall. He will go down in history as the worst president we have had.
Any “bounce” he got from the death of Usama will fade away fairly quickly in my opinion.
A very good decision, I am glad he decided to stay aware from the Obama sham wow show.
Britain was in very bad shape after WW2, economically-speaking. This is how a country can simultaneously fete a victor in war (Churchill in a very real sense ‘got’ Hitler), while at the same time turn him out of office.
A similar thing happened to GHWB after the Gulf War.
