In a newsmaker interview with Jim Lehrer on Tuesday, CIA Director Leon Panetta describes the final tense seconds of the commando raid on the compound housing Osama bin Laden in Pakistan.

I thought Obama seemed very ‘dull’ the night of his speech that Osama was dead...He kept taking all the credit, but he
didn’t seem overly excited. Looked to me like Obama was woken up out of bed.

I keep thinking about how Bush would have been a bit more
enthusiastic delivering that same speech.

I think this was the first time Obama realized the unpleasantness that comes with his job. It’s not all speechifying, golfing, globe-trotting, bracketing, etc. I’m reminded of that photo from the inauguration when Cheney gave the boy-president “the look”.....like he knew Obama had no idea what he was getting into....

What struck me about Obama on Sunday night was his dead black eyes. There is something frightening about looking into those eyes, as if there isn’t a real human in there.
