DEVELOPING: Usama bin Laden was given a religious funeral prior to his burial at sea, senior military officials told Fox News.
Religious rites were conducted on the deck of the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier at about 1:10 a.m. Monday in the Persian Gulf.
In accordance with Islamic practice, bin Laden was washed and wrapped in a white sheet before buried at sea at 2 p.m. local time, senior U.S. military and intelligence officials said.

I’d do a #2.
I don’t think bringing this “not a muslim leader” home for a positive ID and secretly disposing of the body would’ve been very difficult for the military to do at all.
Didn’t they end up moving a lot of debris to a dump, and remains were found there later? How respectful is that?
Tin foil types? Hey moleman, what part of you don’t negotiate nor honor terrorists don’t you understand?
Let me be the first, “WHERE’S THE DEATH CERTIFICATE?”
There, I fixed it.
When I was a kid, I remember pictures in LIFE magazine of some dictator who had been killed (Mussolini?).
His body was hung upside down against a building.
The pic was of an old woman spitting on it.
This is what should have happened to osama.
I’d have done more than spitting...
My BIL is out on the Vinson. If this is true, he must be fuming...
The timing of this right after that BC being posted is odd, to say the least. I don't believe anything this admin says either.
A mistake is not disrespect.
When the people working at ground Zero knew they were dealing with human remains they treated them with the utmost respect. To suggest otherwise is to insult people who poured themselves out daily in work there, people who in some cases will die or have diminished lung function for the rest of their lives because they were there day after day.
I want some proof
I would like to think that somebody slipped in a few slices of bacon into that white sheet before sending it overboard.
Why bring the body back when all you need is a tissue sample. DNA doesn't require a body, it literally only requires a cell.
And, if you bring the body back, the transpo time alone exceeds the Islamic burial standard. Why unnecessarily poke our enemy in the eye, creating a point of sympathy for bin Laden adherents in that part of the world.
The burial at sea makes COMPLETE sense. No, it's not entirely in the Muslim tradition, but it does foreclose the possibility of a large shrine being built to house the "martyr". The burial at sea is something of a stroke of genius.
It’s a pretty big mistake. Thanks for saying I insulted them though.
I’d have preferred a woodchipper.
I am glad he’s dead. Even can understand the decision to dump his body at sea. Giving him a religious funeral prior to dumping his body is just too much though.
Will the crabs spit him out?....
