Sen. Graham questions bin Laden's burial By Jordan Fabian - 05/02/11 11:09 AM ET
A leading Republican senator on Monday question the U.S. government's decision to dispose of Osama bin Laden's body within 24 hours.
Bin Laden, the former al Qaeda leader killed by U.S. forces on Sunday, was buried within 24 hours of his death in accordance with Islamic law. Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.), a top Republican on the Armed Services Committee, is skeptical of the decision.
"To me, that didn't make a lot of sense," Graham said during an interview with conservative radio talk show host Laura Ingraham.
U.S. forces were able to capture bin Laden's body after killing him at a compound outside Pakistan's capital city of Islamabad, but he was buried at sea soon afterward, reportedly to not leave a shrine to him.
The Obama administration is debating whether or not to release photos of bin Laden's body after some have expressed concern that the U.S. needs to do so to prove his death.
But others in the administration have been hesitant due to the graphic nature of the photo.
Michael Scheurer, a former CIA official, said Monday morning that the U.S. will likely release the photos to erase any doubt that he is dead.
I would imagine there are pictures - maybe they will release them but the non-believers will say they aren’t real anyway. I wonder if Saddam Hussein is really dead?
YEP. We are being ruled (I use that term on purpose) by idiots who believe their own PR. They should have had EVERYTHING out there almost immediately after Obama spoke. I wonder if he just couldn’t contain himself, and wanted to grab the spotlight without thinking about all the legitimate questions?
So all those videos taken of the house and interviews with eye witnesses by a multitude of press sources ranging from the BBC to al Jazeera are all fabricated? The bodies of the others shot at the scene including a son were figments of someone's imagination? What about the DNA tests? Do you honestly believe that there was no raid on the house in Pakistan yesterday?
I must say that some of the comments on FR today are absolutely bizarre. Have our dislike and mistrust of Obama so clouded our reason that we can no longer accept objective facts or basic reality?
Bin Laden, the former al Qaeda leader killed by U.S. forces on Sunday, was buried within 24 hours of his death in accordance with Islamic law.
WHO GAVE THE COMMAND TO “FOLLOW” ISLAMIC LAW? SCREW HIM, WE SHOULD HAVE BURRIED HIM HOLDING A PORK SANDWICH IN HIS MOUTH 5 DAYS AFTER THE FACT.
Now hearing that the DNA test was done on site.
sigh..............my tinfoil hat is squeezing my brains.
GWB was likewise sooooo sensitive that he NEVER showed us Saddam Hussein crawling out of his rat-hole, even being hang, LOL!!!
When are they going after OBL’s “colleague” here???
Al jazeera is not going to release anything to harm the ‘won’.
They had to know. The fact that seals constructed a copy of the compound here in the states for practice over a month ago would mean this has been known since at least february. (IMHO)
I saw a leaked photo of Bin Laden shot in the face last night, KATU ch 2 Portland online. Photo was not there this morning.
Sometimes you just need a civil war.
I never thought I would live to see America destroyed. I was wrong. God save America.
I think they threw him in the SEA so he would not be “shrined” at any particular landmark.
FR has always had a bunch of bizarre posters with interesting ideas ... Hell - I think a few were banned post 9/11 for ranting 9/11 Truth-er talking points.
Why?
It is kind of difficult to make a shrine out of the ocean where pilgrims can visit their martyr. The point is that Obama has been disposed of in a location that can’t be found. Islamic tradition is meant to show that the US is not a war with Islam, just the fundamentalist fringe. Whether he was actually buried at sea is irrelevant.
Why use the word non-believers? I find that odd. How many claims do you think people, who aren’t God, are allowed to make offering no proof but words?
The pictures are very important. Bush provided them and there is no reason Obama cannot do the same.
I do hope you take anything Obama, or anyone else “says” with a healthy skepticism rather than being a “believer”.
The military may have bagged Bin Laden, but proof is important.
No way they did a DNA test on site.
That is absurd.

the mission is get in and get out.
you dont sit around doing DNA tests.
So, if the helicopter lifted of at 4:15....just where was the DNA test done. And how long does one REALLY take.
Buried 12 hours later. Okay...they had another 12 hours. Why the rush to dump him off???
I also wonder why the the order was to kill rather than capture to get info.
I am NOT saying that the general gist of the story (OBL is dead) is a lie, just that certain elements are. The best news in years, and Obama rushes to congratulate HIMSELF before they are truly ready to announce this. He made it all political by announcing it himself, late on a Sunday night, without any evidence to corroborate it. He deserves any distrust this creates.
