Obama's Defining Moment (Vanity)

Posted on 05/02/2011 5:22:21 AM PDT by LottieDah

This morning the local news station was interviewing Kirsten Gillibrand and she concurred with the fawning anchor that the death of Bin Laden was the "defining moment" in Obama's presidency. For his next trick Obama will pull 400,000 jobs out of his scrawny ass and pee out $1 a gallon gasoline.

The cretins on MSNBC are practically peeing in their panties over all of this. To hear them gabble, Obama personally lead the raid and shot Osama himself.

I wonder what his approval poll will be? The same or gain a few points? I say, the same as the high approval will go down as his base hated war and killing. His chief of staff is much more politically savvy than any other. As Obama quoted BUSH saying we are not at war with Islam, just the radicals. He also took political cover under Bush as Bush was real and said OBL WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE.

It was only hours before the Obama media got into full swing along with all Democrat operatives after Obama made the announcement. The party line will be to crush all criticism or questioning of Obama in a big time effort to give a big boost to Obama being reelected in 2012.

If Navy Seals report killing bin Laden, he’s dead.
The Obama may spin it all he likes, but it’s our military who found him and our elite forces who killed him. For all his “I” bluster, his only practical involvement was not canceling the “kill bin Laden” order and saying “ok” when they were ready to finish the job.
Just because the messenger claims credit doesn’t mean the core of the message is a lie.

Good job, Seals!

Interesting point.

BTW: Islamic law all but prohibits burial at sea, only allowing when there is no other viable option. “623. * If a person dies on a ship and if there is no fear of the decay of the dead body and if there is no problem in retaining it for sometime on the ship, it should be kept on it and buried in the ground after reaching the land.” Having been killed on land, there was no religious excuse to not bury him there. Being relocated to a ship, sticking the body in a cooler meant no problem waiting until return to land. The “compliance with Islamic law” couldn’t have been screwed up more without bacon.

Honestly, you should look yourself in the mirror. You sound like the Democratic Underground during the Bush administration. If the roles were reversed your quote would be an excellent as an example of Bush Derangement Syndrome.

Today is a great day for America and we should be Americans first and partisans second. However partisan we are (which is a lot in my case) we should be even more patriotic. And even though I personally despise Obama, no patriot can fail to be grateful to everyone (including Bush, the SEALS, the CIA, Panetta and, yes, Obama) who helped bring this day about.

Something's just not right about this whole "we-got-him-and-disposed-of-the-body-while-its-still-warm" story...

Pics were made available nearly immediately when our guys took out Uday and Qusay Hussein. Why not in the case of bin Laden? Let's see them and dispel the doubts!

Absolutely. Though I also despise Obama, credit should go where it's due. Personally, I wish this kill had happened during the Bush administration, but... it didn't.

Our guys had him trapped at Tora Bora, but we entrusted one of the zones to local tribal leaders and... surprise... after two "ceasefires" to "negotiate surrender," bin Laden and his entourage escaped into Pakistan.

Isn’t it interesting that when Saddam Hussein was killed there were many witnesses, video footage, death photos, etc. But when zero supposedly gets the mastermind of the greatest attack on American soil there is no evidence, no pictures, no witnesses (besides the military), and the body is quickly buried at sea??!!

Thanks for reply! I always wonder if OBL was really in Tora Bora but if he was that was a major screwup.

At the outset, it'll be a major upward bump. This is one of those "unifying" moments, regardless of who's in the White House. The numbers will settle back, but look Obama's campaign and its media arm ride this as long as they can.

So why wasnt the capture of Saddam covered the same way. He killed many Americans, and certainly is directly responsible for more deaths than OBL. He slaughtered by the thousands on a regular basis. He funded terror in Israel. We were in a military conflict with him for more than 12 years. The media didn’t suddenly guarantee a Bush relection upon his capture for some reason.

.... the fawning anchor that the death of Bin Laden was the "defining moment" in Obama's presidency.

I agree.

The best and defining moment in the Obama Presidency was an operation made possible by intelligence gathering techniques that Obama campaigned against and planned and carried out by the Armed Forces of the United States that Obama campaigned against by claiming that they could never win the Iraq War.

Obama did contribute one thing:

"Mr. President, we have tracked down Osama bin Ladin and have planned a military operation that we believe has a high chance of killing him. Should we proceed? Yes or no."

"Well, .... uuuummmm, ..... I'm kinda new at this ...... Let me think for a minute. ...... ummmmmmm ...... My final answer is ....... ummmmmm ........ Can I use the 50-50 option? ...... Oh, yeah, that's right. ..... That was a 50-50 option ..... My final answer is ...... ummmm .......... Yes?"

"Is that your final answer, Mr. President?".

"Should it be? Help me out here."

"Is that .... cough .... Yes it should be .... cough .... you final answer, Mr. President?"

"Yes, final answer."

"Thank you Mr. President. You are a true military genius. This defines your Presidency."

He didn’t seem to gain much. Also keep in mind (I remember reading some where) polling on weekends is good for a commiecrat.

Bush’s defining moment was giving that speech atop the WTC rubble in New York after 911. It was all downhill from there though........
