Birthers, buffoonery and a sad discourse
The Washington Post ^ | April 29 | Kathleen Parker

Posted on 05/01/2011 9:45:04 AM PDT by Tex-Con-Man

If you really, really dislike Barack Obama, his long-form birth certificate, finally proffered in exasperation, is quite simply a counterfeit.

If you are a fan of the president — or even a respectful critic — you are relieved finally to have rid the country of the plague of “birtherism,” the rabid belief that Obama wasn’t born in this country and isn’t constitutionally qualified to be president.

To whichever group one claims membership, one can’t help wondering when exactly we lost our minds.

...

Yes, obviously. Trump resurrected the birther cause and breathed new life into it. But it wasn’t only to end the debate that Obama sent for his certificate. According to the vineyard, it was also to prevent other Republican candidates from looking sane by comparison to Trump.

...

In a saner time, Trump would be dismissed as the carnival barker Obama implied he is. People would have recognized Trump as a self-aggrandizing megalomaniac and put a period at the end of the sentence. Not remotely would his name be followed with this phrase: “who is leading other Republican candidates in polls.”

...

Alas, there is no reasoning with the unreasonable, too many of whom these days seem to self-identify as Republicans or conservatives. This is as Democrats would have it, needless to say, but no one is served by our national descent into silliness. Sadly missing on the Republican side is the leveling voice of the grown-up who will say not only that he takes Obama’s word (and the clear evidence), but that the Republican Party won’t tolerate further discussion. Case closed.

And the “walking on water” sad and immature discourse of liberals leaves them to ignore a man in power who should be sitting in a high security prison or mental hospital right now...

Speck vs. log in eye discourse...

the electoral college was meant to preclude political parties—didn’t work did it!

The “people” never wanted to give up their “king,” looks like they remade their king into their “party” with plenty of skunks standing by ready to do their thing; later dividing themselves up into sub-parties, etc.

Simplify was never to satisfy the masses, and for good reason.

How ironic......

snip-”Perhaps it’s a good thing that the U.S. Senate didn’t take up a resolution on Barack Obama’s status as a “natural born Citizen” in 2008 – as members did for GOP candidate Sen. John McCain while both were seeking the U.S. presidency.

The Democrat might not have qualified under the requirements the Senate, including Obama, a co-sponsor and then-senator, put in the resolution, including the demand that the candidate have “American citizen” parents.”

So all that aside, what happens now? Well, nothing.

Exactly. The BC is getting no traction.

Time to focus on larger matters like This administration circumventing congress on Libya, Disregarding Federal Judges on the matter of Obamacare, and Blatantly willfully Ignoring the letter of the law on DOMA. The list of crimes is so lengthy it makes my head swim. I cant believe we are wasting our time on a matter that they obviously have in the bag.

Speaking of sub-parties...

Gunny G: Just WhatThe Hell IS A “Conservative,” Anyway?

(This Is NOT A Question)

My Simple Answer: Like Goldwater, a conservative libertarian (note: small “l”)
I prefer to simplify things, so that’s as far as I would care to define the term.
Remember the old KISS rule: keep it Simple, stupid.

That simple. Google it, if you must.

Most who consider themselves “conservatives” don’t really know, like nobody else really knows what they really mean about anything, either.
Thus, the name/word itself has now become bastardized, like many others.

Myself, I prefer to simplify things, so I will not attempt to define the term beyond that above. Remember the old KISS Rule—keep It simple, Stupid.

Patton was lucky, at least he found one sob in his headquarters who knew wtf he was doing.
Not so any longer in this world, I’m afraid.

From the article:

This is simply not true. Most prominent conservatives, even ones regarded as far right by the MSM, dismissed the birther nonsense a long time ago. This conspiracy lives on amongst the fringe and some well meaning but extremely gullible people.

Virtually all major conservatives have been clear that they want nothing to do with crazy birther talk. From Mark Levin, to Michelle Malkin to Anne Coulter - all have said it was conspiracy theory drivel and they didn't want to waste time on.

Yes, birthers are the right's version of the left's truthers, and yes, you will never bury a good conspiracy once it gets going - but almost all conservative leaders and commentators dismissed birther conspiracies a long, long time ago.

We lost our minds in this nation when we downplay fraud, sedition, and foreign invasion as subjects we can "live with" in the name of "bigger problems". All of these subjects are playing out in the White House. All three of these subjects touch on usurpation.

It's difficult to ignore fraud and say "we have bigger fish to fry" when the bigger fish are in the lake solely because of this very behavior. As the old adage goes, an ounce of prevention...

"My question for everyone here is... what are we going to do to make sure he is sent packing in 2012?"

We keep pushing for truth. The more we push, the more barry lies.

I am by no means a Trump for 2012 (I keep praying for a Palin/West ticket); however, Trump is taking barry to task and in my humble, stupid opinion, is clearing the path for Sarah.

Trump FORCED barry to produce a "FAKE LONG FORM". The world is upside down right now and I cannot poo poo ANYONE OR ANYTHING that will bring the usurper down to it's knees.

Personally, I believe barry is a usurper and should be tried, convicted and hung for treason.

This stupid Kathleen imagines that a guy who can't tell the difference between "long and short", "big and little", "fat and thin" was drive to show his birth certificate (abstract) "in exasperation".

Frankly I don't think he understood the dispute ~ and still doesn't. He was told there'd be plenty of "yes men" around who'd clear everything about anything difficult to think about.

They didn't.

The Contract with America has been broken by the initiators of it.

They knew all along before the contract was put in place that they could not keep it nor had the guts to enforce it. It was theft, pure and simple, behind a veil of “right wing” rhetoric. THey might as well should have gone full liberal and chosen their side and they would have gotten more credits.

While what you say is mostly true, several of the Republican presidential hopefuls have been cowered into acknowledging some legitimacy to birtherism. I'd prefer more unequivocal language.

Well, he can't really be hung for treason against a country of which he was never a citizen. But all of those who perpetuated this lie should be held accountable. ("Ms. Pelosi, please pick up the white courtesy phone for treasonous sedition against your nation...") And Barry Soetoro should certainly be prosecuted as a Communist infiltrator, an illegal alien, a forger and identity thief.

I say we have a lot of work to do. And we are quickly running out of time. We need to quit whining about the game being stacked against us and figure out a way to make it into a new game.

Good post, and I agree with you. At this point it ceases to matter if one is a "birther" or not. It's an issue about which there will never be concensus on FR or amongst conservatives in general. The hour is late, and Obama is not going to be impeached due to anything regarding the circumstances of his birth. Neither side of this argument will stop believing the other side is delusional. Perhaps we can at least agree that the endless circular debate diverts our energy and resources from the goal of removing the Obamessiah from office via the ballot box.

The Democrats are the original “birthers”. A Democrat sued John McCain in early 2008 saying he was not qualified for the presidency due to being born in the Canal Zone.

He is already going down that road of being tried, but it’s the being dragged into this self condemnation of his that the state forces us to go through. They do not want his suicide to be voluntary, but to be a cause that can be jacked for taxation of us. The pathetic Obama is also stuck in his own inability to do it himself. He is like an insane milked for its value by a state hospital infrastructure, basicaly.

I agree with this as well. If no one in our government or legal system has the guts to stand up to this blatant and outrageous fraud, what makes anyone think that they will have the guts to stand up to him on sedition, usurpation, seizing firearms or just flat out rewriting the Constitution? These so-called "small things" really aren't so small; in fact, they are huge when looked at in the whole scheme of things. Every lie and every piece in this entire house of cards was built on top of the foundation of this birth certificate fraud.

Michelle Malkin is an "anchor baby" herself.

She simply cannot be trusted in this debate since she has a divided interest.

BTW, as you've been instructed repeatedly you cannot compare "birthers" to "truthers". With "truthers" there are hundreds of thousands of witnesses who saw the planes fly into the twin towers and the Pentagon.

With "birthers" up until now the ONLY witness to Obama's birth was his auntie in Kenya who said she saw him born there.

That's a lot of difference in anybody's book.

Now, tell us what the conspiracy is about when the sole known witness (until last Wednesday) said the man was born in Kenya?

You gotta' have MORE THAN ONE to have a conspiracy ~ so come up with it and tell us why his auntie initially told the world a different story.

Please!!!!!

And tell us why those people who accepted her story at face value (again with her being the ONLY KNOWN WITNESS) were gullible ~ do you have "other sources" perhaps? Do you mean Neil Ambercrombie ~ did you and he have a meeting over the good smoke and find an answer or two?

BTW, I'm into this just for the mental exercise ~ it's always good to go through the evidence and test whether it's true or not, and to look at the law, examine administrative practices and sequences (that having been my career for many decades before retiring).

A good number of the "birthers" have a good handle on the debate and the Obama side keeps coming up short. It's like they are jinxed or don't know how to tell the truth ~ entirely possible.

This simply cannot be dismissed out of hand like so much nonsense, not and hand over the black bag with power over half the nukes in the world.

I'd think the nuclear command codes issue would be enough to encourage people to demand that this or any other President come totally clean with any element of his or her life. As it is the anti-birthers and Democrat insiders have managed to create a situation where NOBODY who is ANYBODY trusts ANYTHING Obama says.

Good show guys. Wonder what the Chicoms and the Russians think of that.

Wow! The ruling class and those clamoring to gain favor with them are in a fit.. the plague of “birtherism,” the rabid belief. . . lost our minds . . . crazed factions . . . obsessed with conspiracies, unconvinced by facts . . . they’re crazy . . . intolerable distraction . . . facts [are] irrelevant . . . no reasoning with the unreasonable . . . plague . . . beyond depressing . . .national descent into silliness . . . [missing is] the leveling voice of the grown-up who will say not only that he takes Obama’s word (and the clear evidence), [but] tolerate [no] further discussion. Case closed . . . Instead, too many seem satisfied to let the fringe inform the base. We dwell in a time when buffoons are elevated and presidents are compelled to respond to the jester. These circumstances cannot bode well for the republic.

All we are saying♩♪♫
is give release a chance♩♪♫

It's that simple and it's our fault? We put Obama into the position of not wanting to dignify what was so clearly an accusation of “otherness” that had dogged him since he began running for president. [it's] a simple matter of pride . . . he just wanted to protect his mother? No decent man wants to subject his mother to the kind of scrutiny?

Mister government man, uh I want that license but I'm not going to give you my long form birth certificate because you make me feel like I'm different somehow.. and.. I don't want to further embarrass my mother.. Wot? Get out of the office? I'm not going get that license I need.. but .. but . . . .

I gotta do it, you gotta do it, all God's children gotta do it -- but not Obama?
