The superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District says he wants to stop offering chocolate- and strawberry-flavored milk to students as part of an attempt to curb childhood obesity.
Superintendent John Deasy appeared with celebrity chef Jamie Oliver on Tuesday's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and said he will recommend the ban to the board of education by July.

How did it get there in the first place??
Why not just let the kids bring their own food from home?
Whatever mom wants her kids to eat would be none of the state’s business.
It’s too bad that the teachers, principals, and superintendents don’t have the same commitment to ensuring each child gets a grade 12 education by the time they leave grade 12.

I agree, of course then you will have to listen to, “But some parents won’t send their kids any food.” And that’s true. And I don’t have an answer for that.

Anything public school is child abuse, including meals.
cool!
If my daughter doesn’t have strawberry or chocolate flavored milk, she’ll drink juice or soda instead. How does getting rid of the flavoring help her?
Making the food taste bad will not make the kids want to eat healthy.
I’m sure that’s an answer, but what I was saying is people would say that bad parents wouldn’t bother to give the kids anything to take. I’m not saying it’s a good excuse for a school lunch program, I”m just telling you what they will say. And it’s true, there are parents who won’t bother. They will say they don’t have time, or they will tell the kids to make their own and they will forget or won’t bother. Right now the schools do give kids without a meal something to eat. Without a school lunch program they will either have to have something else there to feed them or just let them not eat. I suspect many teachers will just reach into their own pockets and feed them (I would) but I don’t know.
It’s just a thought. Look, we have taken care of people’s needs for so long I suspect there are large numbers of irresponsible people who would fall into this category. Anyway, it’s what the argument would be. And the answer “Well, it’s their kids, and their problem” will only get you called mean. Doesn’t matter if you’re right, it won’t get any traction with the public.
What Idiots! We dont have anything else to worry about.
Too bad you post duplicate responses. :)
