As the high cost of gasoline takes a toll on politics and pocket books, President Barack Obama said Tuesday he is calling on major oil producers such as Saudi Arabia to increase their oil supplies to help stabilize prices, warning starkly that lack of relief would harm the global economy.
"We are in a lot of conversations with the major oil producers like Saudi Arabia to let them know that it's not going to be good for them if our economy is hobbled because of high oil prices," Obama told a Detroit TV station.
His remarks signaled a broad new appeal in the face of skyrocketing gasoline prices in the United States and they came as he reiterated a call for Congress to repeal oil industry tax breaks.

"Obama says he wants oil producers to boost output"
I'm sure that the growing number of Chinese oil companies will listen to him and put more oil into Chinese manufacturing transportation.

Obama needs to threaten to release some of the oil in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (not necessarily actually do it) to shake some of the speculators out of the market. There is no reason why a disruption of 2% of the world oil supply should cause a 20% increase in oil prices without rampant speculation by non end users. Non end users should also be restricted from buying large positions in commodities they will never ever use. Oil for airlines, not for foundations, unions and universities.

0bama has done nothing to make the US it's own best customer when it comes coal, crude oil, natural gas, diesel fuel or gasoline.
He has been anti energy across the board with the exception of pie in the sky give aways of taxpayers money to his campaign contributors.

The GOP majority in congress needs to grow a pair and push a national energy policy that lifts restrictions on domestic oil production and make a lot of noise about it in the media. This is a matter of national defense as well as another anchor on our economy. We either get it done or have another issue to throw at ZERO in 2012. Every time some libtard hits the media with the statement that drilling now won't help for at least two years we just point out that this was the same excuse they used in 2008 and guess what? That was three years ago and we would be using that domestic oil right now if they hadn't blocked it. We could even point to the job creation and taxes that would be collected.

Exactly. Show me the grad pictures. Doesn’t every college grad have them? It is a milestone in ones life. I haven’t seen one cap and gown picture.
To: NormsRevenge
So he calls on Middle Eastern countries to boost output, while shutting off our oil resources here at home, so our own oil companies cannot drill for them???
To: NormsRevenge
Doesn’t do you any good to boost out put, if you CAN’T REFINE IT! Build about 10 more refinery’s which will bring HIGH pay JOBS with it.
