Donald Trump, fresh from a Gallup poll showing him tied with former Gov. Mike Huckabee for the lead in the Republican race for the White House, is firing back at GOP strategist Karl Rove for calling Trump a "joke candidate."
Trump, who says that Rove has proven himself to be out of touch with Americans, released the following statement to Newsmax:
"Karl Rove is a loser. He is doing the Republican Party a great disservice by trying to stop the discussion about the president not being able to present his birth certificate to the American people or to assure the American people as to his place of birth. This is a great issue for Republicans, and I can tell you that the president is spending millions of dollars fighting this issue and he doesn't like it at all.
"I also have great respect for the states considering legislation that would require a birth certificate, not a certificate of live birth, be mandatory in order for a candidate to appear on a presidential ballot in their state.
"Karl Rove should go into retirement where he belongs. The old machinery is broken, and new and much smarter blood is needed."

GO AWAY ROVE, walk away into the sunset along with others of your time.
ABOVE ALL, WE NEED NEW BLOOD!
Assuming SAD is Bummer’s mother, and the BC lists father as ‘unknown’, and, going one step further, SAD was such a mattressback that she actually did NOT know who was the father, would Bummer be an NBC? Would she, with solely her status as a US citizen, confer NBC status to Bummer if she truly did not know who the father was?
Of course, my question does not apply exclusively to the case at hand, but to any such eventuality.
Shirley you jest!
Many of our presidents have been bastards.
Rove took two slam-dunk presidential victories and wheezed them across the finish line on their last gasp. Not exactly a record to write home about.
The Jew Bear - nice!!
You were close enough, here is the exact quote
The constitutional requirement is that you have to be a United States citizen, and by implying, saying, suggesting Obama is not a United States citizen, he is suggesting he was born somewhere else.
Rove’s is a tough scalp to grab hold of...
If no father is listed, I would say that he couldn’t PROVE natural born status. Thus ineligible.
Yep, campaign managers and consultants often get huge credit for what goes right, and blame for what goes wrong, but it's usually impossible to prove what impact someone like Rove's wedge politics and pandering to specific groups actually has.
His pandering to Hispanics strategy was a total disaster all during the second term and during the elections of 2006 and 2008.
THAT was good!!
“Trump is doing the job that Republicans wont do.”
Someone is always doing the job Republicans won’t do. In 2010 it was the Tea Party. In 2004 it was the Swift Boat vets. If it wasn’t for the grass roots conservatives, the GOP would have went the way of the Whigs this past decade.
What do we get for our efforts? We are told to sit down and shut up after winning elections for them.
Please, Donald, you’re doing great but there’s a difference between a Certificate of Live Birth and a CERTIFICATION of Live Birth. Obama has presented ONLY a CERTIFICATION, i.e.,a piece of crap.
The eligibility question is actually much larger than just a birth certificate, natural born citizen and all that, but at least let’s get the CERTIFICATION vs CERTIFICATE language down.
Rove should retire. He’s like a prissy little boy who can’t just let go of the power he’s had. he reminds me of Carl Bernstein with his ‘no one’s scandal can ever be bigger than the scandal *I* covered.’ Karl, here’s your gold watch. Good bye.
Now THERE's a subject on which I agree 100% with Mr. Trump.
No love lost here for Tokyo Rove.
You can call us magnificent b@st@rds. That’ll work too.
I cheer Trump on tearing down Obama’s false biography.
But not as a candidate. And if he runs third party... we have another Perot.
Apparently the Donald is learning.
No, that’s where The Donald is missing the fine point. The two derivative words from ‘certify.’ A certificate of live birth is fine. It contains all the vital information. It IS a birth certificate. A certification of live birth is a minimal extract of a certificate.
What he should have said is “... that would require a birth certificate, not a certification of live birth ...”
