Germany has warned the conservative Hungarian government that its new constitution, passed by parliament on Monday (18 April), is not compatible with European Union values.
"We are observing the developments in Hungary with great attention and some worry," German deputy foreign minister Werner Hoyer said in an emailed statement. "The media law adopted at the start of the year shows an attitude towards fundamental rights which - despite some amendments - is hardly compatible with European Union values."
...The Hungarian parliament approved the document 262 votes to 44, with the Socialist and green parties boycotting the vote and the far-right Jobbik voting against it....
The European Commission for its part has washed its hands of the matter, telling EUobserver that the constitution is for Hungarians to decide and that the country remains a constitutional democracy....
The new text, heavy with references to Christianity, protects the life of a foetus "from conception" and preserves "the institution of marriage between man and woman".

for example, the Basques and Catalonians are across France and Spain, the people in Brittany speak a Celtic language related to Welsh, the people of Alsace and Lorraine are frenchified Allemagnais Germanics, the Polabians are Germanised Slavs, the Balkans are filled with mixed ethnicities etc.
And the EU has enabled entities that cross borders like in South Tyrol -- diffusing a lot of tensions.
Also the chances of a European war are also dissipated by the EU.
However I agree that that is where the EU should end. No president of the EU.
Instead of this, the EU should be replaced with Christendom.
pnh - read my post above that there is no procedure to leave. Remember that the Eastern Europeans also got a lot of money from Germany etc. to build their infrastructure. And they have a lot of investment from Germany.
Thank you for that analysis, Wuli. The problem facing countries like Ireland and Portugal is also due to lack of investor confidence. Essentially if people want more interest for buying govt bonds, the countries rate of interest goes up, bankrupting it. It seems that the Hungarians used this slight of hand, to change the financing so that it looks like they have less debt or more assets, thereby preventing investment banking computers/analysts from downgrading their value and preventing bankruptcy.
The point is not that the media isn’t bad, the point is that a government agency that can decide what is “unbalanced” or “offensive” would be even worse. I know exactly what kind of stuff any agency set up by Merkel (or Obama) would find offensive. Even if the Hungarian agency will do things well during the first couple years—what happens when they lose an election and the socialists take over the government, and that agency? No thanks.
Poland is very deeply religious, and that religion, of course, is Catholic. But I am unaware of any Constitutional recognition of Christianity. But then what do I know about the Polish Constitution? (Hint: “Fried Potato Ravioli? Ew!”)
Spain sure as Hell isn’t Catholic, although I am hopeful that the Ents are emerging from their slumber.
Right. Media ownership is reserved to a tightly-knit cartel of globalists. However, any government monitoring office will be targeted for bribery, blackmail, and infiltration by the globalists.
This thread is from April. I missed hearing about this until recently. Very interesting. Needless to say the EU has been up in arms ever since.
