The press freedom is a hoax. What the Hungarian govt wanted (and I have it straight from local Hungarians) is to stop the press from consistently putting fear into people, from sensationalising news). The law says that a regulatory panel appointed by Parliament is empowered to monitor newspapers, television broadcasts and other media and to impose fines on journalists and news outlets for "unbalanced" or "offensive" reporting. -- how many times have we seen media "talk up" a riot or something? I've seen cases where media show a guy tossing a brick into a car window in a continuous loop and talk about riots when there were none. And that's just a case in point.

Sure, I don’t like the media myself. Sometimes, the constant commie propaganda is so insufferable that I can only watch soccer on tv and listen to the classical music radio stations (and turn them off during the hourly news).

The point is not that the media isn’t bad, the point is that a government agency that can decide what is “unbalanced” or “offensive” would be even worse. I know exactly what kind of stuff any agency set up by Merkel (or Obama) would find offensive. Even if the Hungarian agency will do things well during the first couple years—what happens when they lose an election and the socialists take over the government, and that agency? No thanks.

The press freedom is a hoax.

Right. Media ownership is reserved to a tightly-knit cartel of globalists. However, any government monitoring office will be targeted for bribery, blackmail, and infiltration by the globalists.
